🤟🏻 Built a full .img for in 28 minutes with using BuildLab, my new portable live OS booted via .

1800 packages, XFCE, QEMU, libvirt, full toolchain, debug + network stack.

isn’t a system to use, it’s a system to build systems. A clean, reproducible embedded lab always in my pocket 👊🏻

I genuinely believe that everyone needs a BashLab OS USB stick in their pocket.

It's not just a Linux distro; it's a portable digital self-defense tool.

In a world full of tracking & compromised devices, booting into a clean, non-persistent environment with Tor, Mullvad, Proxychains, and macchanger offers instant, high-level privacy.

Own your digital space. Be prepared.

BashCore live USB on two laptops:
🖥️ Acer Aspire One (2009): 131MB RAM used
💻 HP 250 (2022): 251MB RAM used

Same ISO, same boot mode.
But newer hardware loads extra services.

BashCore adapts to what it finds: minimal where needed, responsive where possible.

Kali Live USB can’t mount my internal disk.
Bad fs type? Missing helper?
It’s 2025. This is basic stuff.

BashCoreX mounts it clean. Silent. Instant.

Das ging vor 10-12 Jahren out of the box.

#Enttäuschung

BashCore live USB = instant home server (VPS style) 💡
Boot → LAN → SSH → VPN in minutes.

Steps:
1️⃣ Boot BashCore live
2️⃣ Connect to LAN
3️⃣ sudo apt install openssh-server
4️⃣ From another PC: SSH into the server
5️⃣ Add route:

sudo ip route add 192.168.1.0/24 via 192.168.1.1 dev enp0s3
# LAN subnet - router IP - server interface

6️⃣ Install NordVPN with token & allow LAN visibility

Done. Private server, full control.

Tried running BashCore live USB on an old Acer Aspire One D160 (2009) as a minimal home server (VPS-style).
Everything worked… until the Atheros Wi-Fi chip (ath9k) crashed the system in a loop.
Not BashCore’s fault — just unreliable legacy hardware.
Blacklisting the driver solved it. 👊

BashCore proves itself again:
💡 Lightweight
⚙️ Transparent
💻 Runs even on decade-old machines.

🧪 Sandboxed VPS with BashCore live USB: sounds fake, but it's real:
– Boots from USB
– No install, no trace
– SSH in from any OS
– Full BashCore Linux toolset
– Works on ancient hardware
– No telemetry
– Clean wipe on reboot
– Feels like a private lab
– Use it as a remote shell
– Your own local cloud
– No VM, no spyware
– Pure command-line freedom

Booted BashCoreX live on my MSI i7 Katana from a 32GB USB stick using Ventoy (with other ISOs on it).
Still got 15.1 GB of usable space on the live system 😳

Running with 16 cores, OS using less than 1GB of RAM.
It’s fast, clean, and lightweight. I'm honestly impressed.

Minimalist OS, max efficiency. 💪

In addition to the AROS distribution "AROS One" for x86 computers, which is available as a DVD ISO file or USB flash ("VHD") image, there is now a separate portable version for USB sticks, which contains AROS ONE 2.8 (32-bit) and can be run directly from it.

🚀 How to Update GRUB and Regenerate Initramfs from a Manjaro Live USB System 🐧

Sometimes things break—it’s Linux life! 💻 Maybe your Manjaro installation isn’t booting correctly after an update or some system tweaks. Don’t panic! You can easily fix boot-related issues using your Manjaro Live USB stick.

Here’s how you can update your GRUB bootloader and regenerate your initramfs directly from a Manjaro Live USB. Let’s dive in! 🌊

🔧 Step 1: Boot into the Manjaro Live USB & Mount your System

Boot your computer with a Manjaro USB stick. Open a terminal and identify your root partition using:

sudo fdisk -l

Let’s say your root partition is /dev/sda2, then mount it:

sudo mount /dev/sda2 /mnt

If you have separate boot or EFI partitions, mount them too:

  • For a separate /boot partition:
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot
  • For an EFI partition:
sudo mount /dev/sdaX /mnt/boot/efi

(Replace /dev/sdaX with your actual EFI partition.)

🛠️ Step 2: Enter your Installed System with manjaro-chroot

Manjaro makes this super easy:

sudo manjaro-chroot /mnt

Now you’re working inside your actual system environment! 🚪

⚙️ Step 3: Update GRUB Bootloader

Run these commands based on your boot type:

  • For BIOS/Legacy boot:
grub-install /dev/sdaupdate-grub
  • For EFI boot:
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=manjaro --recheckupdate-grub

🔄 Step 4: Regenerate your Initramfs

Now regenerate initramfs images:

mkinitcpio -P

🎉 Step 5: Finish & Restart!

Exit the chroot environment:

exit

Unmount your partitions:

sudo umount -R /mnt

And reboot your system:

sudo reboot

That’s it! 🎯 Your Manjaro system should now boot up smoothly.

#help

Testing on continues—so far, just 😅

Had to switch to a 128GB USB stick since 32GB wasn’t enough. Still using the 32GB for basic tests, but once everything is set, I’ll move to the 128GB 💪

BashCore is so lightweight and fast that it runs smoothly even on a simple USB 2.0 drive. Perfect for reviving old PCs and working anywhere with maximum portability.

Among the ones I tried: Artix, BlissOS, Bodhi, BookwormPup64, Bunsenlabs Boron, CrunchBang++, Chimera Linux, Damn Small Linux, InstantOS, KNOPPIX.

These all didn't work for one reason or another.

I am also pending to try: Mabox, MX Linux, Nitrux NX, PorteuX, Q4OS, Solus, Ubuntu Unity.

All of these have something unique about them that makes them interesting to run in a live environment, and I recommend you do too!
