Christian Reister (1972) lives and works in Berlin. He started taking photographs in 2001 and mainly captures people and life in urban areas. After ten years of colour photography, Christian Reister now only shoots in black and white. His main theme at present is Berlin's nightlife, on which he has already published several books.

Aujourd’hui, c’est un genre de coopérative en autogestion qui s’occupe de ce lieu et accueille surtout des petites structures artistiques et culturelles moyennant des loyers abordables. Au cinéma cette semaine, une bande annonce montrait brièvement la cour des Sophiensaele (souaïpez pour l’arrêt sur image), du coup en sortant je suis passée revoir cette cour sur Sophienstraße littéralement à cinq minutes du ciné (oui, je joue en mode facile en ce moment). De nos jours, c’est un théâtre qui est installé là - et dans le film, apparemment, une école d’art dramatique. Mais à l’époque de sa construction en 1904-1905, l’immeuble hébergeait le Berliner Handwerkerverein, association fondée un demi-siècle plus tôt qui joua un rôle important dans l’histoire du mouvement ouvrier allemand. Après-guerre, le théâtre Maxime Gorki a aussi eu une partie de ses locaux là. Bref, encore un lieu à l’histoire intéressante (j’avais un peu oublié tout ça) ; citons les architectes : Joseph Fraenkel et Theodor Kampffmeyer. Décembre 2025.

Vue de biais sur une cour d’immeuble en brique rouge du début du 20e siècle. Au rez-de-chaussée, une grande porte en bois peinte en blanc est surmontée du nom Sophiensaele en lettres contemporaines. Encore au-dessus se trouve ce qui ressemble à un dispositif pour monter des sacs ou autres choses lourdes jusqu’à la fenêtre du premier étage. Entre les étages, des motifs en briques sur fond clair décorent la façade.Plan de la bande annonce du film "Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke" dont il est indiqué qu’il va sortir en janvier 2026. On reconnaît la même cour que sur l’autre photo, mais la grande porte est ouverte et l’inscription au-dessus de l’entrée dit maintenant « Otto-Falckenberg-Schule ». C’est visiblement l’été et des gens vont et viennent dans la cour.
