A beautiful mountain vista rises up from the horizon of a bushy meadow edge. Layered ridges stretch into the distance, each a deeper hazy blue than the one that came before it. The sky is partly clear, with a great crescent of lustrous white clouds stretching above.

A narrow trail meanders through a bright and verdant forest understory. The canopy lets in enough light to feed a thick layer of ferns, mosses, and forest plants which surround all sides of the trail, yet are no more than a few feet tall.

Fields of amber grass give way to a trail ascending through a clear area of a partly forested hilltop. This is the top of a mountain, and the air appears spacious and clear.

Finally able to get out for some miles. Felt good! Still minor swelling but flexible.

Back home in Roanoke, was really annoyed by the couple next to me and had a headache for the second half of the trip but we got here early and my ride was right on time so it was pretty painless except accidentally leaving my headphones in my checked bag and having to settle for my Ann Rule book.

Finally got out for a little exercise and to soak up the sun and enjoy that hint of humidity. Took the old dog out, because she insisted. Saw the first snake of the year (little under average black snack), some birds fighting, lots of squirrels, and the green is slowly going up the mountain.

It’s not #SilentSunday for me yet, but figured I’d share these for those who are already there. These are two views of the #BlueRidge #Mountains in #Appalachia, specifically #NorthCarolina. The first #BlackAndWhite photo I edited to resemble an Ansel Adams photo, and the second I ramped up the color saturation and thought it looked like an old National Geographic image. I took these back in 2009 on an old #Sony Cybershot with a Carl Zeiss wide-angle lens and edited with iPhoto (back in the day).

Good 5 miles into the #SNP this morning. Life’s getting into a groove as spring is starting to creep up the mountain. Started off with a great blue heron in the hollow, some early flowers pushing up near a creek, and a robin at the turn around.

This is one of endless views along the Blue ridge parkway. The parkway is 469 miles and connects Virginia's Shenandoah national Park to Tennessee's/North Carolinas great Smoky mountains national Park. This was back in 2019 and I would like to get there as there is so much to see along that highway.
