Hey mastodonians. So I’ve been referred to a #gastroenterologist specialist. They found a weird something on my latest #CTscan and want me to get some kind of scope camera surgery? They want to look at my asophogus, where it goes from my stomach into my asophogus. Acid reflux runs in my DNA, so that sucks. This will not occur in several months, but like, do they put you to sleep? My veins are shot three times over. How will they get an IV? Could/would they use the anesthesia mask on me for this? It’s supposed to be a day surgery and I’m a giant ball of anxious not knowing when they’re going to call me in and what they’re going to do. #medicalAdvice? #Gastro #procedure #help

Well, had my pre-op meeting with my #Urologist. Saw the pics from my #CTScan. Dang, that mass is big! Saying it was 4 inches long isn't the same as seeing that it's the size and approximate shape of a large orange. And, with a mass that size, it's 99% sure that it's #cancer. On the upside, my chest x-ray was clear, and there's no sign of any spread beyond the mass itself, so with surgical removal of the #kidney, that will be that. No #chemo or #radiation necessary, just periodic scans. /1

Finally, earlier today I had to have an #MRI with contrast. Unlike the #esophagram and #CTscan, an MRI does NOT use radiation.

For those other scans, metal can interfere with an image being taken by blocking the #xrays.

But the M in MRI stands for #magnetic, so the problem here is with metal and magnets being incompatible with #MedicalImaging.

A few months' later, I had a #CTscan.

Again, metal will interfere with the #MedicalImaging and again, the technicians were initially uncertain if what I was wearing would work.

They agreed to give it a try but warned me I might have to remove it if they couldn't get clear images.

Again, just like the #esophagram #xray, the #CTscan was fine. 🙂

Actually getting to enjoy some vacation time this summer. Son and Hubby are already off in China for July. I’ll be heading out for a couple weeks on a cruise to Northern Europe and Scandinavia. So exiting!

Less exciting was two weeks of nasty GI upset and learning I have a “nodule” on my right adrenal gland. Still a biopsy away from understanding more about it.

Thankfully I’m feeling better and trip WILL happen.
