I had this delightful baby iambic key arrive this week via AliExpress. It’s not going to win any contests, but it was something affordable to dip my toes into the iambic key waters.
So far I am really impressed as it brings timing consistency to my CW where I might have been considered a bit all over the place on a straight key. Much easier on the hand too.
So you've learn Morse Code (CW) Now What? Find out more in the lastest "Ham on a Bike" Blog. #AmateurRadio #Hamradio CW #MorseCode @skccgroup @northqrp #K1USN #CWOPS #FISTS

The final CWT for 2024 is in the log. That's 89 CWTs for 2751 QSOs, 97961 points, and highest score of 4453. There's the target set for next year.

Went to Tempelhofer Feld trying to get picked up by RBN on 10m CW and.. nothing..
The endfed I've used is a DIY build, the QCX mini is originally built for 30m.. so many things could be wrong with that setup!
Any tips on what else to try? Different band perhaps? Different time of day?
I participated in the #CWOps Medium Speed Test (MST) for the first time today. It was a lot of fun! I love the fast pace.
Ianis, YO8YNS just won the Gold metal while setting a new world record in the RUFZ (callsign receiving) Category B with a score of 311,192 points and a max speed of 1126 characters per minute. That is an equivalent of just over 225 WPM.
Here is Ianis YO8YNS demonstrating high speed CW reception at #CWOps Dinner, 05/16/2024

Morse Runner - Community Edition v1.85 is out, with a good sized change log. The game changer for me is the new corrections column, which shows any mistake you made after an exchange.
Get the zip at https://github.com/w7sst/MorseRunner/releases/download/v1.85/Morse.Runner.1.85.zip or work your way through github.

FINALLY got to try my little MTR3B - works like a charm 😃
Several QSOs on 30m from my vacation QTH a couple hours north of Kristiansand /Norway.
Antenna is a dual band 20/30m, with #sotabeams mini-traps.
Got decent reports with my 4’ish watts TX power, tomorrow I’ll try 20m as well 🙂

I like having a telnet window open in my logger when operating in the #CWops weekly #CWT contests, it's interesting seeing yourself (re)appear every few minutes from the RBN and shortly afterwards hearing a pileup 😀
This morning in one of these 'you've just been respotted' pileups I heard a call ending with a 'B', and after calling them was delighted to hear Chris VK3QB call me 👍
Even if the bands appear to be in the summer doldrums, never give up!
Met up with #radioamateurs from #OZ7SAC club station at ‘Busbjerg’, a new POTA site in OZ (Denmark), DK-0214.
Brought my IC-7000 along with a ‘flowerpot’ antenna for 6m and a brand new #greencell LiFePO4 battery.
A heavy backpack, but only a short hike (and 60m ascent 🥵) from the nearby parking lot.
As it turned out, 6m was dead, at last seen from my end, so no QSOs this time.
My friends had more luck with 20m and 2m 👍🏼
Despite a #mclass #SolarFlare just as I started my #parksontheair #pota activation this morning, the #qrp #qcxmini served me well with a bunch of #cwops #morsecode opportunities #hamradio #amateurradio
I think the term ‘Flowerpot’ antenna came from the idea that you should be able to fit a 50MHz vertical dipole in a reasonably sized flowerpot and get on-air in a stealthy manner 😎🤓
Essentially it’s a piece of high quality RG-58 coax cut so there’s almost an equal length of inner conductor with the screen part removed, and a part with the screen still present. At the bottom, a coil made from that same cable on a 50mm circular plastic tubing/pipe terminates the antenna. Dead simple, and it works!
I built the 6m version a couple of years back and worked stations across Europe at #QRP levels, so this year I decided to try the 10m version, inspired by #VK1AD. Andrew built his to center at SSB, I decided to move mine slightly downwards in frequency because I’m mainly a CW-Kitty 🐱🙂
It turned out really well, at least if you ask my #nanovna ☺️
On-air tests will follow later this week 👌🏻👍🏼
