Just got my #Zeiss Biogon 35mm for #Contax back from Mr. Bilzer’s shop in #Dusseldorf. It received a proper CLA—focus is buttery smooth and freely moving now. Using the camera’s focus wheel is an option again.

Got my first film back.

What I found after I’d sent it off is that the DoF scale on the old Zeiss lenses is about one stop more optimistic than what we’d use today. This seems to be by design — aligned with 1930s–50s printing standards. The scale, of course, is easy to cheat… though there’s a certain charm in shooting by it — I think.

yesterday I got this nice (post-war) #Zeiss West Biogon 35mm f/2.8 for #Contax RF. Great condition overall, with original cup, cap and hood.

Only issue: focus is rather stiff — good for zone focusing, but operating the focus wheel on camera is out of question.

Anyone got experience with this lens — is this normal or does it need CLA? Any specialist in .de for these? Got Manuals?

I would love to get it into best possible condition.
