#CorneKeyboard

2025-02-27

If it wasn’t obvious from recent posts, I have fallen into the world of #ErgonomicKeyboard / #MechanicalKeyboard / #KeyboardLayouts

My #CorneKeyboard arrived from Ali Express this week, I've already tried one new layout, and just today I filed my first issue and pull request on a public repository related to this new “hobby”: github.com/aradzie/keybr.com/i

That's for the keybr.com/ touch-typing platform, and a very recent layout called #HandsDownPromethium which has the letter R and space on thumb keys.

@britter I got a #Cornekeyboard to solve the distance of the ESC key problem.

#Keyboard fans on #macOS - is there an easy way to record keystroke usage counts? e.g. Like an extended version of this software which currently only does a grand total of all keys: github.com/MarcusDelvecchio/Ke

I want data on my existing usage while thinking about #KeyboardLayout, thumb keys, and #KeyboardLayers for the programable #CorneKeyboard #ErgonomicKeyboard I have ordered

OK, my Corne is now ready for some tinkering with QMK 😸 I really love the Cherry MX Grey switched I put in there 😻
And my Cantor finally got a nice case.

I guess I'll now have some boards to bring to #Mechanicon next year.

Well, until then I might have more than two to bring along 😹 (although these are pretty basic ones)

My finished Corne keyboard on my desk. It is a 42 key split keyboard with a purple case. The keyscaps are pink except the white home row and the light blue thumb keys. All keys got a red lighting and under the keyboard I'd a red underflow visible. Each side of the keyboard has a little display. One shows the Corner logo, the other some layer data.
In the background you can see part of my old Cherry keyboard with customised keycspsOn top is the Corner keyboard mentioned in the other image. In the lower part you can see my Cantor keyboard. The key layout is similar but slightly more stretched. The keycaps are mainly black with a red home row and grey thumb keys. It's got neither lighting nor displays. The case is black and red.

Okay, so i finally my #StarLiteMkIV tablet arrived after months of delivery confusions. I also finally assembled my wireless #CorneKeyboard. I slammed NixOS on the tablet and it works like a charm.
But the tablet won't recognise the keyboard. So i checked that m phone could pair - success. Even my phone could pair with the tablet.
But the tablet only finds the phone, nothing else so far.
Sadly today and tomorrow i won't find time to debug.
I hate to go to sleep while i have unfinished business.

I am searching for a #MechanicalKeyboard similar to the #CorneKeyboard layout, but with thumbclusters more like the #Moonlander (in regards to angle and distance).
Does anybody know of such a board?

I never designed a PCB myself, sadly. And i have no time to do so at the moment.

@lookitmychicken Maybe something like #corneKeyboard ?
Also I suggest to watch Ben Vallack on YouTube, though his end game keyboards are totally not for everyone, but his journey and explanations are very educational

Chonky Palmtop Will Slide Into Your Heart

You probably know what a cyberdeck is by now, but you'll find that people's definitions differ. Some use the term rather loosely, applying it to things that are luggable at best. But we think you'll agree that [Daniel Norris]' chonky palmtop is without a doubt, quite cyberdeckian.

One of the hallmarks of a cyberdeck is that it folds up, often like a laptop in the screen-over-keyboard sense. Not only does chonky palmtop do that, but the split keyboard (more on that later) has this impressive pivot geometry and really satisfying slider mechanism thing going on. The whole thing folds up into a little brick, which [Daniel] says is about the size of an old Asus EEE laptop. (Remember those bad boys? Those were the days.)

Inside the brick is some stuff you might expect, like a Raspberry Pi 4 and a 7″ touchscreen. [Daniel] also packed in an AmpRipper 3000 LiPo charger, which is especially good for high voltage projects. Speaking of, there is a voltage button to check the battery level, which is then displayed on a trio of 7-segment displays that are smack dab in the middle below the screen.

Now about that split keyboard -- that's a Corne, which is kind of a happy medium between a lot of keys and too few, and 42 is probably enough keys for most people. Considering the overall size, we think that is a great amount of keys.

Not that you can tell by the keycaps on those Chocs, but [Daniel] is rocking the Miryoku layout and firmware. Slide past the break to watch chonky palmtop unfurl, boot into Ubuntu, and close back up in a brief demo video.
