#CherryMX

Quite the rare item on eBay right now: an early Amiga 2000 dealer demo unit (unserialed, apparently only 200 of these were made) featuring the fabled Amiga keyboard with Cherry MX keyswitches and red 'A'miga keys.

I first heard about these many years ago, but have never seen one pass through.

I just got my second #AlohaKB #keycap set, and put it on my Ducky One 2 #Keyboard.

Both looks quite excellent wouldn't you say.

The lower one is the new set, the upper keyboard is the one I currently use.

For your reference the top keyboard has the Trailblazer set, the bottom one has the Biotech set.

Both keyboards are Ducky One 2 boards, but came with different keycaps, both use the #CherryMX Blue Switches.

I am looking to get one or two spare Ducky One Three keyboards with hot swap switches so I can test others easy.

Anyone have experience with Gateron switches, specifically in regards to longevity? I've had an Anne Pro 2 with Gateron Reds for the last ~2 years (bought it used, though it appeared to be very well cared for) and have had multiple occasions where I sit at my computer in the morning, and a new switch starts acting up (occasionally chattering, but more recently, requiring a lot of force to actuate). Last week, it was right shift, and today it's H. I usually just tap the shit out of it 'til it starts behaving again, but my previous keyboard, an iKBC Poker 2 with Cherry Reds, never had these kinds of issues, and I used and abused that thing non-stop for several years straight, and would still be using and abusing it if the micro-USB port didn't rip clean off the PCB along with all it's pads. I never had any kind of issues with actuation or chattering on that board.

I think it might be right about time that I give repairing my Poker 2 another go. I would replace it with another Poker 2 if I could find one with MX Reds for a reasonable price, but I mostly see them with MX Browns (blech).

My finely tuned Corsair K63 keyboard died. It only lasted me 3 years. Modern things are short lived. I search and search and find no replacement. It has to be by Amazon, layout ISO_UK, TKL and with Cherry MX keys.I've gone for one that I'm not too convinced, see how it goes.

Looking to replace my #mechanicalKeyboard after nearly five years with a #Filco #Majestouch 2 with #CherryMX brown switches.

The keyboard is great, and while wear has made many keys blank and a liquid spill has made one key stick I probably don't really need to replace it completely.

But I'd like to change the switches to make typing easier on my fingers.

Will a switch with more resistance make me work harder, or reduce the impact on my fingers of bottoming out all day long? Advice please 🙏

Dear community,

I’m looking for a case for a wireless V3.
- minimalistic
- Cherry MX style switches
- 3DPrintable or cheap to buy

What do you use?

OK, my Corne is now ready for some tinkering with QMK 😸 I really love the Cherry MX Grey switched I put in there 😻
And my Cantor finally got a nice case.

I guess I'll now have some boards to bring to #Mechanicon next year.

Well, until then I might have more than two to bring along 😹 (although these are pretty basic ones)

My finished Corne keyboard on my desk. It is a 42 key split keyboard with a purple case. The keyscaps are pink except the white home row and the light blue thumb keys. All keys got a red lighting and under the keyboard I'd a red underflow visible. Each side of the keyboard has a little display. One shows the Corner logo, the other some layer data.
In the background you can see part of my old Cherry keyboard with customised keycspsOn top is the Corner keyboard mentioned in the other image. In the lower part you can see my Cantor keyboard. The key layout is similar but slightly more stretched. The keycaps are mainly black with a red home row and grey thumb keys. It's got neither lighting nor displays. The case is black and red.

The 'E' key on my keyboard is completely worn out. If the question was, how long does it take for #CherryMX blue to loose their click and tactility, then the answer is: Being the most frequent letter in English and German, suffering through about 10 hours of daily use for 4 years, seeing through the development of a whole OCT imaging software (framework, and backend to frontend) and writing a couple of papers on it.

I think tomorrow I will permute the key switches 'U'→'E'→ 'Esc'→'U'

A couple of years ago, @DasKeyboard released the 6 Pro and the MacTigr #MechanicalKeyboard s. @trbutler previously reviewed the #Mac-centric MacTigr, and liked it, but what about the more “normal” 6 Pro? Let’s take it for a “test type.”#cherrymx #testytim reviews.ofb.biz/sa1225

Cherry MX Purple switches installed nicely to my keypad. They feel great, probably the best I've ever used!

But my main keyboard doesn't have the plastic stabilizing pins so I can't use them without damaging the switches.

So I won't use them. Cool.

I did some reading and the bounce issue I'm having is probably due to bad connections; a known issue with the Drop Ctrl from some casual research.

Too much work to do, so in world-class procrastinating fashion, I created a thing that reminds me to ESCape to a better place once in a while. I was surprised how well it turned out on my el cheapo Chinese printer.

It was fun to play with #OpenSCAD. I created a GitHub repository, so you could print your own key. It's based on the KeyV2 project which offers many keys with different profiles, stems etc. Maybe an enter key or space bar with a Commodore logo?

@dinosaurgerms Later Atari published the "pizza box" Mega ST2 and 4 (the 1 came later) that addressed the issue of the mushy keyboard with a Black switched one, incorporated a blitter to speed up graphical operations, had an expansion bus for a graphics card (intended for use with the 19" paperwhite SM194 monitor) and was often bundled with an Atari SLM laser printer - with the whole bundle priced lower than laser printers from any competitors due to the fact that the SLMs had no RAM.
