Leider kann man #degoogleyourlife mit #grapheneos nur mit Hardware von google... Wie gerne würde ich grapheneos auf meinem #Fairphone5 installieren.

Dieser Artikel hat mich einmal mehr daran erinnert, dass ich auf @GrapheneOS wechseln wollte - die Zeit hab ich mir heute endlich genommen.
Und ich hätte das schon viel früher tun sollen.
Über den Webinstaller ging es leicht von der Hand, nachdem ich die Anleitung ein zweites Mal gelesen, und unter Ubuntu einen stressigen Prozess beendet habe.
Die Apps die ich aus dem Google Appstore benötige, laufen sandboxed ohne Murren, und die feingliedrige Kontrolle über alle Aspekte des Gerätes geben ein gutes Gefühl, ohne Überforderung.

On my quest to self-host* more and more things, I discovered today that Apple has a custom email domain service with iCloud+. I get this as a part of my Apple One subscription, and I might try it with the domain I got to go with Azure last year.

I like Gmail just fine, but I don't want to run into a situation where my primary email gets locked/compromised/becomes unavailable for some reason and then I have no recourse. It's not like Google has phone support!

*I'm using the term self-host loosely here since it would be quite a hassle to run your own actual email server. I value my time/sanity and it's not worth running my own, so I have no issue paying someone to do that for me.

There is of course a trade-off here, but I also trust Apple's security/IP reputation/iCloud/etc.

In the process of eliminating gmail usage. Set up forwarding already, but got a mountain of 30+ services that need their login/email changed. Ouch.

Plus side: I suppose there's a bunch of them that don't even exist / are not needed anymore.
