Seit Donnerstag habe ich ein #Firmenhandy, welches ich dank #DualSim auch privat nutzen kann. Bei der Einrichtung habe ich mich extra dafür entschieden, nicht alle Apps meines alten #Smartphones zu übernehmen. Bis jetzt habe ich noch keine #YoutubeApp installiert und habe auch noch kein Bedürfnis, obwohl ich sonst mehrere Stunden darin verblödet bin. 👌🫡

WhatsApp na iPhone’a w końcu obsłuży dwa konta jednocześnie

To jedna z najbardziej wyczekiwanych funkcji przez użytkowników sprzętu Apple, którzy korzystają z dwóch numerów telefonu.

Meta w końcu rozpoczęła testy natywnej obsługi wielu kont w WhatsAppie na iOS. Koniec z koniecznością instalowania wersji „Business”, by obsłużyć drugi numer.

Jak donosi serwis 9to5Mac (powołując się na WABetaInfo), nowa funkcja pojawiła się właśnie w najnowszej wersji beta aplikacji dostępnej poprzez TestFlight.

Jak to będzie działać?

Do tej pory, aby mieć dwa WhatsAppy na jednym iPhonie, trzeba było uciekać się do sztuczek lub instalować osobną aplikację WhatsApp Business. Teraz, w menu ustawień ma pojawić się nowa sekcja „Lista kont”, a także dedykowany przycisk obok kodu QR.

Testowa wersja nowej aplikacji pozwala na dodanie i płynne przełączanie się między dwoma kontami. Można dodać zupełnie nowy numer lub podpiąć istniejące konto z innego telefonu (jako urządzenie towarzyszące) poprzez zeskanowanie kodu QR.

Pełna separacja ustawień

Co kluczowe, Meta zadbała o prywatność i porządek. Każde z kont będzie miało osobny zestaw ustawień. Oznacza to niezależną historię czatów, osobne kopie zapasowe w iCloud oraz różne dźwięki powiadomień.

Również same powiadomienia na ekranie blokady będą wyraźnie oznaczone, aby użytkownik od razu wiedział, na który numer przyszła wiadomość.

Na razie nie ma oficjalnej daty premiery dla wszystkich, ale obecność funkcji w publicznej becie sugeruje, że aktualizacja trafi do App Store już niebawem.

Or is it too much to ask to get a #smol #smartphone that has:

• 3,5mm TRRS jack (CTIA prefered, but NATO standard is also okay!)
• #microSD slot (cuz convenient - ideally the internal storage was also on a microSD and fully replaceable. I don't expect socketed RAM tho.
• real #DualSIM ( #eSIM is not a valid substitute for a 2nd #SIM slot! If an OEM want they can just include 1-2 #eSIMcard|s thst are progammable with #nLPA / #MiniLPA in addition to two fully-functional SIM slots…)
• #ToolfreeSwappableBatteries (ideally just industry-standard cells like 18650 or 21700 #LiFePO4 - potentially even 2 for #HotSwapping!)

Yes I know it'll look like an #Iridium 9555 or #IridiumExtreme (PTT), but I care about #functionality and #Repairability ...

@aki @foone Personally there are various reasons to want real [=physical] #DualSIM, ranging from cheaper #Roaming to wanting to carry ony one device to being able to utilize more than one network for redundancy or having multiple non-#VoIP numbers…

• Either way there's no legitimate reason not to have dual-#SIM, #microSD & #ToolfreeSwappableBatteries because that doesn't reduce protection (see #GalaxyS5) and is way more sleek.

Because physical SIMs, like any "cryptographic chipcard" (i.e. @nitrokey ) did all that fancy public/private crypto on silicon and unless that was compromizeable (which AFAICT always necessistated physical access to the #SIM, espechally in pre-#OMAPI devices) the SIM wasn't 'cloneable' and the weakest link always had been the #MNO /.#MVNO issueing (may it be through #SocialHacking employees into #SimSwapping or LEAs showng up with a warrant and demanding "#LawfulInterception"):

• These "attack vectors" were known and whilst unfixable they could at least be mitigated by i.e. NEVER using a #PhoneNumber for anything and/or using anonymously obtained #SIMs. But more and more services like @signalapp did #regression demanding #PII and more and more nations criminalized #AnonymousSimCards under utterly #cyberfacist & #FalsePretenses!

Add to that the regression in flexibility:

Unlike a #SimCard which was designed as a vendor-independent, #MultiVendor, #MultiProvider, device agnostic unit to facilitate the the #authentification and #encryption in #GSM (and successor standards), #eSIMs act to restrict #DeviceFreedom and #ConsumerChoice, which with shit like #KYC per #IMEI (i.e. #Turkey demands it after 90 days of roaming per year) und #lMEI-based #Allowlisting (see #Australia's shitty #VoLTE + #2G & #3G shutdown!) are just acts to clamp down on #privacy and #security.

• And with #EID being unique per #eSIM (like the #IMEI on top!) there's nothing stopping #cyberfacist regimes like "P.R." #China, #Russia, #Iran, ... from banning "#eSIMcards" (#eSIM in SIM card form factor) or entire device prefixes (i.e. all phones that are supported by @GrapheneOS ), as M(V)NOs see the EID used to deploy/activate a profile (obviously they don't want people to activate eSIMs more than once, unless explicitly allowed otherwise.

And now you know why I consider a #smartphone with eSIM instead of two SIM slots not as a real #DualSIM device because it restricts my ability to freely move devices.

• And whilst German Courts reaffirmed §77 TKG (Telco Law)'s mandate to letting people choose their devices freely, (by declarong #fees for reissue of eSIMs illegal) that is only enforceable towards M(V)NOs who are in #Germany, so 'good luck' trying to enforce that against some overseas roaming provider.

Thus #Impersonation attacks in GSM-based networks are easier than ever before which in the age of more skilled than ever #Cybercriminals and #Cyberterrorists (i.e. #NSA & #Roskomnadnozr) puts espechally the average #TechIlliterate User at risk.

• I mean, anyone else remember the #Kiddies that fucked around with #CIA director #Brennan? Those were just using their "weapons-grade #boredom", not being effective, for-profit cyber criminals!

And then think about those who don't have privilegued access to protection by their government, but rather "privilegued access" to prosecution by the state because their very existance is criminalized...

The only advantage eSIMs broight in contrast is 'logistical' convenience because it's mostly a #QRcode and that's just a way to avoid typos on a cryptic #LocalProfileAgent link.

@BryanGreyson so I guess @fairphone / #Fairphone did not partner with @GrapheneOS / #GrapheneOS nor did they reverse their #FeatureRegression since #Fairphone3 (removal of 3,5mm jack, removal of 2nd #SIM slot because #eSIM is not real #DualSIM!) ?
