Fed up with the toxicity & inertia, some #Republicans, including once-loyal #Trump allies like Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, headed for the exits, diminishing the majority’s already thin voting margin.

A look at some key metrics illustrates the cost & scale of the #dysfunction.

#House members cast 362 votes in 2025, the 2nd-lowest count in the last quarter century. The only other year in that time frame when the House cast fewer votes was 2020, during the COVID pandemic.

Even by the standards of an institution that has set records for #dysfunction in recent years, the #Republican-led #Congress in 2025 hit new lows for #productivity.

Plagued by a razor-thin majority, intraparty divisions & a fear of doing anything that might draw #Trump’s ire, Speaker #MikeJohnson toiled to keep the #House running.

How the #House Slumped to Historic Lows of #Productivity in 2025

Despite holding a governing trifecta, #Republicans labored to steer the tightly divided House, with fewer votes & fewer bills that became #law than almost any session in the last two decades.

The incompetence is staggering. Doctors and nurses here have almost no idea how medicine actually works. Even basic dignity is a battlefield. I spent an hour yesterday arguing for a real glass for my coffee instead of cheap, thin plastic. This morning, they refused again: "No glass for you."

"clearing your name is very hard to do when you're the [family/community] scapegoat because the word has gone out over the years about you, and it's gone beyond the family [or community], you don't know who's talking about you and it's hard to get yourself back."

This woman's story is my story, although I'm still living in the aftermath of a vicious and vile smear campaign that caused me to lose everything.

News from Greater Minnesota.

“It’s been going on for way too long,” said Pat Gavle, who served as city clerk years ago and has signed the petition. “And every time you think something can’t get any stupider, it has.”

The Spongebob Shutdown: How Both Parties Are Winning While America Burns

Let me just say this straight up — this is my opinion. My personal take. But I honestly believe that both Democrats and Republicans in Washington, D.C., are benefiting from this shutdown. Not the everyday Democrats and Republicans, not the people living paycheck to paycheck, not the single parents trying to stretch what little money they have left — no, I mean the ones sitting comfortably in Congress, the ones making decisions from their high offices. Those are the ones gaining something […]
