Spent an absolute age pulling network cables through conduit today. Does anyone have any tips for how to make it stress-free? Iβm going to try cable lube next time.

Day 9 of the #30DayMapChallenge is Analog. Taking a cheap win as it's been busy day of #diy and posting the kitchen wiring diagram I drew whilst working on #electrics as a form of "map".
The joy of fixing something that has been broken for over 5 years!!
We had an electrical fault in a socket in the house that connected our dishwasher! But the dishwasher was broken and we didn't use the socket so it got left. Multiple times I tried to find the cause for the issue (a faulty earth) which only affected this one socket!
A had a suspicion that the fault lay behind a cupboard that was put in when we had the kitchen renovated but didn't have sufficient belief that made it worth ripping the cupboards out! Yesterday I freed the cupboard from the attachments and found a live socket and switch point! And inside the switch a disconnected earth wire! I reconnected the earth and the fault cleared.
Joy o joy ... But why couldn't the workmen that did the job have converted the switch and socket into junction boxes! Now I need to decide ~ put the cupboard back or do the conversions first!!
(Get an electrician in!!)

Random morning thought: Could a battery be considered a chemical-reaction-powered generator?
Thus recharging could also be thought of as refuelling.

Is there anyone on here who understands auto electrics? I thought I did but I'm baffled by my boat engine/alternator/dashboard. Please DM if you think you can help, we don't need to bore everyone else. #BoatsThatToot #boats #boating #cars #electrics
Things you find in barns, part 2. This is a massive baby. Have no idea yet on the output amps, but this stuff would have driven some serious research equipment, possible a #βmainframe

Well. It's been a ππ’ππ¦π΄ π°π§ π΅π©π¦ ππ―π¦πΉπ±π¦π€π΅π¦π₯ kind of day. And no, I haven't been watching any television. #Electrics #WallpaperStripping
I have what appears to be a neon bulb indicator lamp but it says 25V. Not 125; 25.
Does that make sense? Is 25VAC workable for a neon bulb?
I was thinking I wanted make a thing to take weak AAA or AA batteries and chain them together to put out like 5V that I could throw on a USB plug to put charge into something else that charges over USB to get that last bit of power out of them.
'Cause if you read an unloaded weak battery it'll show like 1.2V or 1.3V or something, and that's pretty easy to stack, right? And if you look at a battery discharge graph for AA/AAA alkalines and do the maths that's some legitimate power left.
(1/2 probably)
...because I'd been thinking after it did it AGAIN a couple of days ago "maybe it's the RF fuckery of this neighbourhood in general and here in particular, maybe that's it" so was putting RF chokes on the signal lines because hey I have them so why not
and the white wire I wasn't even working with said "poit" and i went "well, that ain't normal" and now you know the rest of the story
i really hope this fixes this bullshit because holy crap i hate it
I may've found the underlying problem causing increasing numbers of false building-wide smoke detector alarms.
it's definitely _a_ problem, could be _the_ problem
basically
intermittent neutrals are not here to show you a good time
they are here to show you a bad time
someone added onto a circuit after initial wiring, definitely not my work and I'm p. sure not work of anyone I've hired, it's old - probably builder, probably a change order at the last minute
either way it was not what they call "workmanlike" and yanking wires around to do it _may_ and _may not_ have been involved in a neutral being _mostly_ separated from the detector network
it would've got worse every time we changed a battery on that unit too, so
maybe
Saying goodbye to DeDeitrich hob today, finally ruined by attrition months after getting smashed by a frustrated person with a rolling pin.
99p from eBay 15 years ago. 1 of the rings never worked & the controls would only work with 'something' over the end of your finger but it was only meant to be for a year or two until we sorted our kitchen.
Still waiting for that kitchen, but now the cracks have spread and we've had to fit the bargain we bought from Wickes.

The not-immediately-intuitive representation of guitar electrics motivated me to portray them in terms I can more easily comprehend.
The joys of replacing dimmer switches. I learnt today the difference between trailing edge and dummy modules. In my haste I've bought and fitted one with two trailing edge type modules, when one of the sets of lights are not meant for dimmer switches, (trailing edge type). π€¬π€¦ #DIY #electrics
Did I show this? Came across it when I was searching for my crimping tools.
It's an old BBC Goerz RCD tester.
Not much use these days, but it comes with a neat set of test wires.
Those were the reason to haggle a bit and buy it.
Going to clean it up and park it in the collection. The wires will go with my installation tester or maybe my Metratester 4.
