A couple of birds on the driveway as I wandered back from the letterbox at lunchtime today.

I spied the Tawny Frogmouth first, and then an Eastern Yellow Robin landed on a branch close by and posed for a little while.

A Tawny Frogmouth perched in a Silky Oak tree. It is at the root of a branch and is trying to look as much like the bark as possible. In this shot, it is puffed up a bit and looks kinda round. (It is cool outside today).A small grey and yellow robin on a branch. It is looking left, and has its tail up.A closer shot of the Tawny Frogmouth. In this photo, I was a cople of metres closer and the bird knew it, and had stretched out to appear more like a broken branch.

🌏 Eastern yellow robin (Eopsaltria australis)

The eastern yellow robin is a medium-sized Australasian robin with a grey head and back, bright yellow underparts, and a small white throat patch. In flight, a pale bar is visible on its wings. It is found along coastal and sub-coastal eastern Australia, extending inland in some areas, inhabiting diverse habitats from woodlands to rainforests and even gardens. These inquisitive birds are often seen perched low, on tree trunks or branches, from where they pounce on insects and other small creatures. They are generally sedentary, though some altitudinal migration occurs in winter. Their calls include bell-like piping and a repeated "chop chop" sound. Two subspecies are recognised.

Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1)

It cooled down enough outside to go for a short walk down the driveway in search of birds.

I came across two Eastern Yellow Robins, a male Variegated Fairy Wren, and several always moving Brown Thornbills.

It should be noted, this is a composite of two shots, one where I focussed on the bird in front, and one where I focussed on the bird behind, taken about 3/10ths of a second apart.A tiny Brown Hornbill, shot from below as it was almost directly above me. It’s Spring - and the birds are busy feeding babies. This Eastern Yellow Robin is very cheeky and stole a mealworm from the Lyrebirds at Healesville Sanctuary.

Today's lunchtime bird is the Eastern Yellow Robin. Found initially on a stalk of native ginger, before it relocated to a branch of the tree above.

I went for a walk down the road this morning, and ended up walking about a km down to a local park, and a km back along the creek.

Not a lot of "wow factor" photos, but quite a good selection of birds (some saw me before I saw them, and decided not to have their photo taken)

Here we have a #BrownThornbill
#EasternYellowRobin
#YellowFacedHoneyeater
and a #GreyShrikeThrush

Vagaries of low-light photography… too dark to see if the auto-focus has clamped onto the correct subject. Case in evidence 👇🏻👇🏻

Tree: gotcha! Birb: notsomuch!

Out-of-focus capture of tiny Eastern Yellow Robin captured in the gloom of 5e rainforest that lines parts of Cardinia Creek. The tree behind the birb is perfectly in focus… the birb… notsomuch.Oh well.

Went outside to sit and look for birds, but it's quite windy out, and as such a lot of the birds were sheltering somewhere unseen.

Anyway, I found a Little Shrike-thrush, and an Eastern Yellow Robin.
