There are problems with having a tight egress policy on a residential network. Many of the SmartTV apps include a preconfigured DNS client. The apps ignore the device DNS settings. The latest challenge is Netflix entering a fail loop every time it attempts to play an ad. The only way to clear it is to force close the app. #firewall #egress #enshittification

8. According to folks local to #Jasper #AB and #Kamloops #yka #BC (via social media) and news, there is no additional capacity in Kamloops, due to #wildfires and various evacuations in BC communities.
Jasper evacuees are being told to head to #Calgary #yyc, another ~7 hours drive among admittedly gorgeous scenery but yet more mountainous highways when they may have had NO SLEEP since Monday night.
