Finished building my new hardwired split mechanical keyboard this weekend! based on my own design, spray painted and powered by a pair of Raspberry Pi Pico W’s. Of course, it’s running my fave firmware ! Sadly doesn’t yet support BLE on the PicoW so it’s not wireless yet, but I’m just counting down the days!

(more details in the image alt text!)

It takes time and I’m still so damn slow but I can feel a substantial improvement in typing speed and accuracy after 3 days. And on the way I’m learning to use 10 fingers for typing and hell of a lot of shortcuts. #keyboard #zsa #moonlander #typing #mechanicalkeyboard #ergokeyboard #ergonomics

A good three weeks later I'm up to ~82 WPM on the split keyboard, at least for regular text, finding symbols and shortcuts is still a bit slower!

After years of interest in split ergonomic keyboards, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a MoErgo Glove80! Really excited about its ergonomic design, especially the concave key wells and thumb clusters. Hope it arrives soon! 🤩

Hello collective intelligence on #keyboards!
I want to gift myself a proper #ergokeyboard .

I've seen the #keyboard.io 100 and the #zsa Voyager.
Both nice, I would ofc want super-clicky switches, and both can be programmed and flashed via web (as in: Burn The Apps Down).

Needs to be carriable&sturdy

I type for a living, about 90% text but I still like to code. After years of being forced to the _gaming_ aisle for decent hardware, I want something *serious*.

Experiences? Thanks!

Finally starting to build the latest version of my Dactyl Lynx keyboard! Many thanks to my coworker Baran for printing me some new keyboard parts while my 3D printer is in storage. Now to start soldering...

I've started exploring a modern #AltKeyboardLayout called #Gallium, very similar to the #Graphite layout. It is reported to have a nice flow to it, will see how it compares to the #ISRT (#Colemak based) layout that's I've been using up until now. #MechKeyboard #ErgoKeyboard

Since mid October 2023, noticing I was starting to have more and more #wristPain, which were lasting days instead of hours... I opted to give those fancy #ergonomic #splitKeyboards a chance, and after several research hours, I opted for the #ZSA #Moonlander, there were alternatives, but too far from what I was used to, was unsure and this was my final choice. (also found a good local used deal)

Since I was changing keyboard, why not use also a more ergonomic layout? So, I opted for a #shockTherapy and went with #Dvorak and used this combination ever since! My first days were quite.... a going back to when I was 7 years old, sub 10 wpm XD but after a couple of weeks, typing was not as humiliating as before and my speeds increased :)

From time to time, I recorded my progress on #Monkeytype and these at the bottom are 4 months of data, from a classical full size #qwerty at 110ish wpm to currently 60ish, with a constant increase week after week. I am not in a hurry, as my wrist pain vanished, and that was the final goal.. So I'm okay with half the speed and -95%ish pains :)

Hope this might prove useful to someone that is also considering this #journey or have this kind of #pain ^^

Bruce unexpectedly makes an book sale by rambling way off-topic on the forums for the I use! ❤️‍🔥🪗

Who knew a fan from Finland would read my history joke and buy my book?

Finland’s Steve 'N' Seagulls old time accordion bluegrass band may give the connection some interesting background? 🤠

Nice, the PCBs arrived. Now it's time to source all other needed parts. Except Pro Micros, I still have enough of them lying around.

And yes, I picked green on purpose. Hobbyist PCBs are rarely green anymore, especially when they are visible and I really like the oldschool vibe of it.

Three stacks of plastic wrapped, green PCBs for a split mechanical ergo keyboard called Sofle. On the left is the bottom plate, in the middle the top plate and on the right the actual PCB.
