So I've been using #Squarespace for some time to make websites for myself and clients and while I love how easy it is to use and the beautiful site designs, I'd like to use something that's just as usable but #FreeSoftware or #Libre and NOT #Wordpress. Ethical design isn’t about trying to reform billion-dollar corporations like Google and Facebook that have fundamentally unethical business models, it’s about designing organisations with ethical business models that, therefore, can create ethical products and services.
I don’t give a Linus if you have “open” in your name or a penguin as your logo if you continue to enthusiastically and uncritically promote and legitimise the surveillance devices of Google and its kin, you are part and parcel of #SurveillanceCapitalism and no ally of mine.
