#Livestream with #UbuntuStudio #Linux as a control machine again… actual video processing and encoding as always with standalone #Blackmagic gear and #JüngerAudio processing. Linux for monitoring and #BitfocusCompanion. #OBS as (false color) monitor with a #UltraStudio Thunderbolt3 frame grabber and for LUFS-I loudness monitoring.
Without the #Elgato #StreamDeck handled by #BitfocusCompanion this would be impossible to operate with a single brain and only two hands. #PTZcamera also controlled with Companion.

Turns out, old #DanteController 4.8.1.2 for #Audinate #Dante #AudioOverIP can be installed directly in #Wine / #Linux even.
However, it doesn't work, it can't see the Dante devices in my network.
So, I'm stuck with #Windows10 in #Virtualbox for which that old version still works. Until you resize the VirtualBox window while running Dante Controller, because then you have to push the reset button of that virtual machine…
Today, #Linux is making me have me a bad day again. No, actually not true. #Audinate is to blame. Their #DanteController software for their #Dante #AudioOverIP does not come as a Linux version. It also does not work in #Wine. And recently, it has stopped working properly in #Windows10 in #Virtualbox. It just crashes.
Dante Controller is a Java application, but not platform independent. They don't want to, the folks at Audinate.
So whenever there is something Dante going on in #EventTech, I need to bring a separate laptop with me.
Fun fact is: If software is not available for Linux, people always blame Linux. Never the manufacturer of that software.
Nobody blames Google if there is an app only available for IOS, but not for Android.
EDIT: My own NextCloud now saved me with an old Dante Controller 4.8.1.2 found in its "deleted files" compartment that doesn't seem to have the issue. (Screenshot below.)

Ein Kabel von Hohlstecker auf einen bestimmten #Lemo-Stecker mit 4 Pins, Stromversorgung für meine #zCam #E2 Kameras aus einem PoE-Splitter raus. (Den PoE-Splitter mit genug Power gab's auch nur in China, via Ebay.)
Das Kabel kostet unter 10€ bei AliExpress, ich brauche zwei Stück.
Der Lemo-Stecker kostet in Deutschland bei Conrad 73,64€ – ohne Kabel.
Das sind so die Zusammenhänge… klar sollte ich das Original der LEMO Elektronik GmbH München kaufen. Aber bei über 140€ statt um die 20€… ist das ein Luxus, den ich mir nicht auch noch leisten kann. Die 2 #ZCamE2 für #Livestreaming in der #Veranstaltungstechnik sind ja quasi schon Luxus – und auch nur möglich, weil gebraucht gekauft und Objektive schon vorhanden.
Für Business-#EventTech, wo Geld keine Rolex spielt… da fahren Dienstleister dann auch gerne gleich das teuerste Zeug auf, weil ist ja eh immer bezahlt. Aber ich mach halt Kommunalpolitik-#Videolivestream mit klammen Kommunen.

Soundcheck-Schnappschuss gestern (KünstlerInnen noch nicht in Schale), #SudhausTübingen, #WüsteWelle #BigBand.
… und im Vordergrund eine der seltsamsten #Windows-basierten Appliances ever. Das #Soundcraft #vi3000 ist ein teures, gut abgehangenes #Mischpult, dem so manches aktuelle Feature wie ein Analyzer (#RTA) fehlt, ansonsten kann man gut damit arbeiten. Wenn es nicht gerade einen seiner Software-Bugs ausspielt, die in den letzten 12 Jahren nicht behoben wurden. Ich würde mich nicht trauen, das Ding zwischwen Soundcheck und Show zu rebooten, wer weiß, was es dabei vergisst…
Ob der einst in der obersten Liga spielende Hersteller Soundcraft, der seit 2014 kein neues Produkt mehr vorgestellt hat, überhaupt noch wirklich existiert, ist in der #Veranstaltungstechnik ein gern spekuliertes Thema… für diejenigen, die Fans sind. Die anderen sind längst bei Behringer, Allen&Heath oder Yamaha gelandet.
Die Wüste Welle Bigband juckt das zum Glück nicht, die rockt einfach gut ab.

Wo stellen wir das Mischpult hin?
– Am Besten dort, wo der #Tontechniker nix hört.
Wer kennt's nicht. Dort, wo man die Musik gut und richtig gemischt hören sollte, ist mal wieder kein Platz fürs #Mischpult. Diskussion zwecklos, wegen… Bestuhlungsplan, oder sieht scheiße aus, oder, das hatte ich auch schon bei einer anderen Venue, Zitat Inhaber: „Das ist mir scheißegal, ob's dann nicht gut klingt, du gehst hinten in die Ecke.“
Die Band „Salman Soul“ hat ein kluges Konzept… zum Dinner ist sie ein Jazz-Trio, und danach mutiert sie in eine fünfköpfige Partykanone, dauertanzbar groovt es, und musikalisch sind sie sehr gut.
Naja, dann gammelt man halt mit dem #Tablet in der Tanzmeute rum, so kommt es dieser zumindest vor, und mischt remote. Wenn's nicht gut klingt, gibt's schließlich Anschiss, welcome to Tschermany.

So today I did the firmware updates on the last bunch of my #m43 lenses.
On one hand, it feels good that Panasonic still published fresh updates to quite old lenses in 2024, on the other hand it feels strange to do firmware updates on lenses at all.
Note that the picture features the only two power zoom #mft lenses that to my knowledge exist, the #Panasonic 14-42 and the 45-175 on the right corner of the picture. I always thought it would be a good idea to control their zoom with the #zCamE2 camera, which in fact is possible via HTTP (not via any built-in user interface)… but I never did this.
And then the pandemic restrictions were over and #livestreaming broke down as a market… with only one single client regularly asking for my service, which is… full service, basically a mobile #broadcast solution for audio and video.
So I will be selling two Z Cam E2C cameras (not in the picture) and perhaps some more of the lenses.

Weiter geht's beim Aus- und Aufräumen mit dem guten alten analogen #FOH… #Drawmer DL441 und #dbx 231 in einem bombigen Rack…
… in meinem Bereich der #Veranstaltungstechnik kommen derlei Schätzchen einfach nicht mehr zum Einsatz. Digital hat gesiegt. Nicht unbedingt, weil es viel besser wäre, sondern weil ein FOH in einer Kiste daherkommt, die eine Person alleine tragen kann.
