I am currently reading and listening to Katabasis by R.F. Kuang, and I am 47% through the book. This book is taking a lot for me to focus on, so I am glad that I’m listening to the audiobook as well since it makes it so much easier. I am hoping to finish this book soon

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace is a fantasy that contains soul magic, pirates, and mermaids. I love Adalyn Grace’s Belladonna series, so I am excited to see what this book has in store.

Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer is a book that I have been anticipating since last year when I read the first two books. I began reading it on November 1st, and I am so excited to see that there is a new special pov. I can’t wait to see what develops between the Villain and Evie.

Salvacion by Sandra Proudman is a YA fantasy that contains a masked heroine that is trying to break free from societal restraints while donning a mask and acting as a vigilante at night. This book seems to be full of Latin culture and unavoidably falling for the enemy.

These are my reads for October.

Reading The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes again gave me a chance to notice things that I missed the first time. Just like the first time I read this book, the chemistry between Rohan and Savannah and Grayson and Lyra was great. But I was able to see a lot more in the little moments between characters because I already knew the plot. Overall, this was a good refresher before reading the newest book.

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix was two star read for me because the gruesome body horror was too much for me. I did like that he wrote about topics, such as misconceptions about housewives and the ‘simplicity’ of their roles.

Glorious Rivals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes was such a great continuation to Grayson and Lyra’s story. The development between Rohan and Savannah was also amazing. However, Gigi’s character development was my favorite part. I love how she is known as a bubbly person, but deep down, she always feels inferior to her twin sister, and her bubbly personality is just a way to distract others from this. This is such a contrast to Savannah’s cold exterior that hides her own insecurities. I can't wait to read the next book!

I re-read Assistant to the Villain and Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer and loved it as much as the first time. I can't wait to read the newest book in the series, Accomplice to the Villain in November.

I am currently re-reading the second book of the Assistant to the Villain series by Hannah Nicole Maehrer to refresh my memory before I read the new book in the series, Accomplice to the Villain.

I have been anticipating the third book and can not wait to dive back into this world. I can not wait to see the relationship between The Villain and Evie develop. But I am mostly looking forward to reading more on Kingsley and, hopefully, and his backstory.

Last August, I read Bride by Ali Hazelwood for book club, and I want to continue with this story. Bride was a bit more spicy than what I usually read. However, I was able to skip a lot of those parts and not be lost.

I think that the mate concept between a Human-Were hybrid and Alpha Were is interesting. I can't wait to see how the previous book’s storyline comes into play in this book.

While I overall have enjoyed the series, this latest installment felt like mostly filler and fluff. More points of view were added to this book, but they often felt tired and repetitive. I honestly thought this was the last book in the series, but about halfway through realized that this was going to be stretched out into at least a fourth. While I do enjoy the characters, I don’t enjoy them enough to feel like this warranted more than a trilogy.
It wasn’t enough for me to drop the series, but it was enough for me to say “I don’t need to own this series anymore.”
