There was a time when floppies were a thing for rich people as you can see in this ad. The price on floppy is more than twice the price on casette.

For the record, the prices are in the, back then, local Spanish currency: pesetas, and in Spain the . and the , are the other way around than in the US. So 1.199 translates as 1,199 and 2.995 translates as 2,995.

I have aquired, for free, a bit of DOS software/games on 3.25 in floppies.

Time to see what works and what doesnt. Not sure if any of the disks need to be archived but I plan to just use my greaseweazel for dumping images.

The #USA is a sitting duck. When our #infrastructure is hacked and all hell breaks loose and there's no #internet, my #IBM XT will fire up the same way it did 40 years ago, as that 10 MB MFM hard drive cranks up. And I can safely transfer files to friends and family with the trusty 5-1/4 #floppy #diskettes that also still work. And it will be powered by #solar power. Now that's #self-sufficiency. Also I am stoned.

I compared some 3.5 inch #floppy drives today and I found a weird one. I decided to disassemble it and have a look on the scope. I am not liking the waveforms but I don't know what causes this. #retroComputing

I love the smell of fresh floppies in the morning 💾

It has been more than 30 years since I used X-Copy. How magical the waiting time was while copying a floppy. Will the game work? Are there no copy errors on any disk?

Today on #floppy disk failures, a sector so close to a physical disk defect that I get different data with every read.

This one is a is manufacturing defect of the surface and a c64 that put a sector just on overlapping on the defect
