Feature release day! I can finally show a thing I've been working on for a year and 9 months.

Pro plus subscriptions now have access to flight debrief and scoring information on our web interface. Happy flying!

Foreflight web interface showing a flight tracklog with various segments of the flight listed out and some (such as an approach) with scores. There is further information about the flight altitude and speeds as well as an explanation of the scores and how different things were weighted and what the tolerances were.

I finished another page of my logbook. Between April 6th and June 11th of this year I managed:
39 Landings
26.4 Hours of flying time
14.8 Hours of Cross Country time
0.3 Hours of actual instrument conditions

So now I have:
640 Landings
364.7 Hours of flying time
138.8 Hours of Cross Country time
8.8 Hours of actual instrument conditions

I've gotten 41 hours this year, which is a lot more than normal for this time. I am loving everything about it (except the bills).

Nearly tied for farthest I've flown so far today I flew from Appleton, WI (KATW) to Prairie du Chien, WI (KPDC). It was very hazy out from fire smoke so going IFR was a good idea in my opinion. Ended up doing a GPS approach which has the great benefit of lining me up to land with no issues.

The terrain around the airport was neat with various glacial features, hills, valleys, and stuff a flat lander like me usually doesn't see. There was a courtesy car available at the airport for use and so my partner, child, and I went to Pete's Hamburger stand. It had a long line and people raving about the burgers and after waiting for quite a long time we got some burgers. I'd say the burgers were pretty good but perhaps not worth the hype people were giving them as they were unseasoned burgers. Mine had caramelized onions all over it which was a good choice.

I wasn't sure how the haze would be for the return trip and I filed IFR and went to fuel the aircraft for the return route. Another kid showed up about my kids age and they became instant best friends so when I got back they were all over the place having a blast. Despite this I managed to convince him that it was time to leave, picked up our clearance on the phone, and departed IFR back. The visibility was better heading back so it probably wasn't strictly needed but I did time a descent I was given at pilot's discretion so I'd go through a cloud. Got that 0.05 actual!

My kid fell asleep pretty soon after we departed and just snuggled on my partner for the flight back. It was smooth going both ways and it was a perfect Saturday activity.

Also I saw that pink plane and I'm low-key kinda jealous.

Wasn't planned but to my surprise I was asked to conduct a familiarisation flight on the BR23 915 IFR. I guess it's real name is even longer. And so are the checklists which make every A320 look pale...
Holy moly.
Bottom line it is nothing but a microlight.
A microlight with the avionics of a business jet. Really.

A student I've been mentoring for years graduated High School and I promised her a flight so yesterday we flew to Iron Mountain (KIMT) and had dinner while she told me her college plans. I'm proud of her and wish her great success in her endeavors.

On departure I took this picture of the Iron Mountain airport.

I got a pin for flying 10 youths this year through the EAA Young Eagles program.

#avgeek #aviation #generalAviation #youngEagles #eaa

A letter from the EAA Eagles Programs Manager that reads:

Dear Young Eagles Pilot,

Since 1995, our EAA Young Eagles chairmen have challenged all Young Eagles pilots to fly 10 or more Young Eagles during the calendar year. This year, our chairman, Jimmy Graham, will continue that tradition and extends congratulations for meeting that challenge in 2025!

More than 2.4 million young people have had the opportunity to share our passion for flight. For many, their flight will be an event they remember for their entire lives. For others, their Young Eagles experience is a personal gateway to aviation.

Enclosed is your "10 for 2025" Young Eagles lapel pin. You have earned the right to wear these wings, and I hope you will wear them proudly. For each Young Eagle flown, you have earned Young Eagles credits for your local chapter. These credits can be used to help support the chapter's Young Eagles program or offset the cost of sending a youth to the 2026 EAA Air Academy.

Thank you again for your support of EAA's efforts to fly young people and inspire their dreams. I also encourage you to do what you can to motivate other Young Eagles pilots to participate.

Tailwinds,
David Leiting Jr.

Yesterday evening was my EAA Chapter's build night for our Zenith kit. Some of us went about drilling the final holes for the wing ribs and riveting them while the other members were in the process of preparing the rear spar for the wing. While we were working a very heavy rain storm hit (just in time to soak the grass runway that just dried out).

Clecos line the spar as holes are being prepared for rivets.Outdoor picture of a rain soaked apron at an airport. Clouds overhead and hangars are visible going off into the distance. The grass runway is cut nicely but given the puddles on the apron it is definitely hiding some water.

Today during a club member’s flight review (First person doing what I am now calling Sam’s Comprehensive Flight Review) I passed 1000 hours total time.

Really happy. This came later than I wanted but still so happy.

My EAA Chapter had a very successful first Fly Out to Portage for their Fly In (C47). It was the busiest non-towered traffic pattern I've ever been in, with the added challenge that we were landing 36 and you really only could back taxi. So we'd pile up four aircraft at the end and taxi back in formation.

Really cool day, I'm glad some of my chapter members joined me so I didn't feel like a dork having a one man fly out. I'm sad I had to rent an aircraft but grateful I had a backup option when mine went down for maintenance.

On Sunday (May 18th) I flew to KLUM where there was a memorial fly-in for some people that passed away in a plane crash recently. Here are some photos of the trip up there with more to follow if you want to see more in this thread.

That last photo I took when I realized that I had pretty much nowhere to safely land if my engine failed. This was the Volk Falls MOA which I've never traversed (and probably wouldn't again at that low of an altitude).

After the flight over the Alps, recently, it was time for a "mountain light" flight. Had a look over the #Blackforest and a nice visit of the town of #Freiburg before returning back to the lake.
Yes, it was #glider weather, again. Tell you what: these canopy flash lights they often have are a thing. Honestly. Really cool!
