“We’d like them to investigate so they can determine whether there are breaches of the Australian consumer law, and ensure that companies that are making these types of statements are held to account.

Vous vous apprêtez peut-être à assister, le 3 mai à Pantin, à une soirée militante anticapitaliste, écologiste, queer et féministe, qui aura lieu à la Cité fertile. Sur le papier, cet événement coche toutes les cases de la bonne conscience féministe/queer/anticapitaliste/bienveillance/écologie : il s'agit de la soirée organisée par le collectif Les Murènes.
Le problème c'est que cet événement présenté comme militant a lieu dans un des fleuron du green-washing et du mensonge capitaliste destiné aux petits blancs bourgeois amateurs de cheap thrills : la Cité fertile, autrement dit, un lieu financé et soutenu par BNP Paribas, une banque dont on connaît le rôle écocidaire via ses financements de l'industrie fossile en Afrique et ailleurs.
La Cité fertile est l'un de ces tiers lieux entièrement fabriqué pour plaire à une frange branchouille et consumériste du capitalisme de bonne conscience, qui veut consommer sans se poser de question tout en bénéficiant d'un vague air "alternatif". Comment je sais ça ? Ben parce que j'ai fréquenté leurs voisins durant pas mal d'années, le squat écolo/anar "LEO" de Pantin (un endroit au dessus de tout soupçon en termes éthiques et d'engagement militant écolo, anticapitaliste et solidaire), et parce que je me suis renseigné : en quelques clics sur Internet, on découvre sur le site web de la Cité fertile des financeurs et soutiens bien encombrants.
On découvre aussi que ce tiers lieux, comme pas mal d'autres a été fondé par une entreprise capitaliste (Sinny et Ooko) qui fabrique et vend aux municipalités des tiers lieux à la chaîne, du prêt à consommer pour branchouilles décervelé.es et a-critiques : tu cherches un lieu de détente au look radical sans effort ? Va à la Cité fertile, coco, fais-toi fouiller à l'entrée par des personnes racisées, et paye ta bière et tes activités "conscientes et bienveillantes" une blinde ! Anticapitalisme et écologie pirate pour les bourgeois, dans un décor de palettes bon chic bon genre...
La Cité Fertile, comme toute organisation marchande, utilise des communicant.es et des marketteux.ses, et sait noyer le poisson et aveugler même les personnes les plus aguerries. C'est pourquoi on a contacté Les Murènes, avec d'autres personnes, pour leur signaler gentiment le problème, et leur envoyer des sources et une doc sur le caractère mensonger du lieu où elles organisent leur soirée. J'ai eu une réponse aimable (" on réfléchit à tout ça en collectif, etc.") puis plus rien, et l'événement semble maintenu.

"The fishermen in Kerala have already launched several protests against the proposed plan to open up the sea to private mining companies as part of the Union Government’s ‘Blue Economy’ initiative.
"All the fishermen’s associations stand united in their protests against this proposal, alleging that it would bring an end to the fisheries sector in the country, not only in the #ArabianSea but also in the #BayOfBengal.
“ 'The mining, according to the scientific report we have, can disturb the seabed and completely destroy fish spawning habitats. It can also release poisonous gases trapped on the #DeepSeaFloor, causing severe #environmental issues,' Kerala Minister for Fisheries, Saji Cherian, told PTI.
"He said that deep-sea mining requires huge investments and heavy machinery, meaning only #multinational #corporations will be involved, making these areas completely inaccessible to poor fishermen.
"The Kerala government, which is strongly opposing this project, passed a resolution in the Assembly urging the Centre to withdraw it.
"The Minister said the proposed site, off the Kollam shore in Kerala in the Arabian Sea, is very rich in marine resources and serves as a lifeline for fishermen from Kerala and other states.
“ 'We have a highly diverse and extensive fish population in this area. The mining will completely wipe out this habitat, severely affecting the livelihood of fishermen in our region,' Saji Cherian said."
