Dunnock, aka Hedge Sparrow.

The word Dunnock derives from Middle English "Donek" or "Dunok", which was a form of Old German "doniklin"

Now for the interesting part:

"Dunnock" literally means "brownish grey".

A dunnock or hedge-sparrow (Prunella modularis), fossicking about for food on the ground at the riverside in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a very cold morning, but the bright sunshine made the scene look warm.
