Heggemus op een dikke tak. De heggemus is redelijk recht van voren op de foto gezet en heeft de kop omlaag. Van de boom zijn op de achtergrond dunnere takjes met blaadjes in herfstkleuren.

🌍 Dunnock (Prunella modularis)

The Dunnock is a small, brown-backed bird with a distinctive slate-grey head and breast, making males and females visually identical. Widespread across Europe and into temperate Asian Russia, it is a resident species common in gardens, parks, and hedgerows, where it maintains a shy and secretive nature. Often called the 'hedge sparrow,' its typical behaviour involves hopping or shuffling along the ground beneath cover, frequently flicking its wings. Seven subspecies are currently recognised. 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗻𝗴): Close-up of a dunnock among the dense foliage of a hawthorn tree, whose leaves have turned reddish with autumn. The bird is seen from the front, although it turns its head slightly to our right, probably to get a better view, showing us its mottled dull gray breast, as well as its ear coverts, which are brownish.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝗻 (𝗘𝘀𝗽): Plano cercano de un acentor común entre el denso follaje de un espino albar, cuyas hojas se han vuelto rojizas con el otoño. El ave se ve de frente, aunque vuelve la cabeza ligeramente hacia nuestra derecha, probablemente para ver mejor, nos muestra su pecho moteado en tonos grises, así como su zona auricular, que es de tonos pardos.

ℹ️ The Dunnock (Prunella modularis) grows up to 14.5 cm and can be seen all year round. It feeds on worms, beetles and ants. It lives in thickets and hedges. Fun fact from the German NABU: "The mating behavior of the Dunnock is very diverse, because everything from monogamy to polygamy is possible. Whether a male mates with several females or a female mates with several males doesn't seem to matter much to these inconspicuous birds.

ℹ️ Die Heckenbraunelle (Prunella modularis) wird bis zu 14,5 cm groß und ist ganzjährig zu beobachten. Sie ernährt sich u.a. von Würmern, Käfern und Ameisen. Der Vogel lebt im Dickicht wie in Hecken, woher er auch seinen Namen hat. Funfact vom NABU: „Das Paarungsverhalten der Heckenbraunelle ist sehr vielfältig, denn von der Einehe bis zur Polygamie ist alles möglich. Ob sich ein Männchen mit mehreren Weibchen oder ein Weibchen mit mehreren Männchen verpaart, ist den unscheinbaren Vögeln anscheinend ziemlich egal.“

Fun fact regarding the #Dunnock ( No, it's not a house Sparrow) the female will mate with more males than one, in order to make sure that more than 1 father will help her raise the youngsters. Quite intelligent I’d say.
You're more likely to see them on the ground than high up in a tree.
