We were able to collect a decent amount of pears for winter (considering we only have 3 trees, and they were supposed to be collected a few weeks ago), as well as more than decent amount of pears suitable for our birds.

As I’m now unemployed and a full time housewife (or “domestic goddess” according to my wife) I’m trying to learn how to cook. Here’s my first attempt at quiche. One is mushroom and swiss, the other mushroom and cheddar. Used a recipe from my aging copy of the Moosewood Cookbook and hoping it doesn’t make the wife and kids sick.

#Naan dough rising, to be cooked tomorrow. Used up the last of my homemade Greek yogurt. These naan are destined for pizza bases when the wife's family visits this weekend. We'll see if any of my in-laws are brave enough to try my #kombucha.

I spent a good portion of today filling the gaps between the boards of the shed/barn, and then climbing a ladder to use stretchy caulking in the cracks on the outside. The recent rain has shown me that the previous owner had kept the rain out by simply painting the shed and that’s not working anymore. I mean the roof is shingled, but there was daylight shining between the boards that make up the walls and the water that leaked in would eventually cause a bunch of rot. #homemaking #hobbyfarming
