I gave my KX2 a tattoo 😁

Panels are due tomorrow (unless UPS have a transporter that isn’t happening). In the meantime I’ve put together and installed a board for my #kx2.
Very excited to offer @hb9dqm excellent KXUSBC2 USB-C charger for the #elecraft #kx2 https://shop.g7ufo.radio/products/kxusbc2
Happened to notice that the latest #elecraft #kh1 firmware includes FT8 support for SOTAmat https://sotamat.com - which now supports the KH1.
This is great timing as I’ve spent some time this evening finally designing the case for my SOTAcat PCB. I have made sure it will fit on the #kh1 as well. It’s a much tighter fit than the #kx2 or #kx3.
Quick render below of the top of the case. Need to figure out the bottom part, particularly connections. May need a tweak or two to the PCB…
Back from #SOTA activation on Potzberg (DM/RP-432). Nearly everything went wrong.
Built up inv vee and found out that SWL is infinite. No damage visible. Built up 2nd when I saw a wire breach I could not repair easily. Third antenna: wrong plug, so I decided to use my #KX2.
While logging my connects I found out that my 'smart' watch showed wrong time. So I had to calculate what was the correct logging time.
In the end, 12 QSO on #20m and #40m SSB.
Thanks Chasers!

After 32 years as a ham I finally completed my first #pota activation!
Thanks for everyone who hunted me at Kielder Water (GB-1285).
This one was SSB but I hope to add a CW one in the future.
Gear was my trusty #elecraft #kx2 with wire antenna suspended on a SOTABeams tactical mast. Ran off battery and happily chucked out 10w.
40m didn’t give me any contacts (the noise floor was surprisingly high - possibly LED lighting in the cabins?). 20m was great though.
AGCW QRP Contest 08.03.2025 (next Saturday)
the contest will take place on many bands 10/15/20/40/80 and from 14:00 to 20:00 UTC. There should be the possibility for every OM to make a few QSO's. Every log, no matter how small, is very welcome.
All details about rules and suitable log programs can be found here

Have fun and good luck !

Three easier Summits on the Air hills in South Wales ticked off today including a new one, Allt yr Esgair. New “Slim G” 2m antenna and HT combo didn’t live up to expectations but will persevere.. Good conditions on 20m/17m tho.

Does anyone have a good description how to use #wsjtx with an #Elecraft #KX2 ? Everything I found seems to generate far too much garbage outside of the 4kHz pass band and if I reduce the various gains until the garbage disappears, my signal ends up super weak. #hamradio #ft8 #ft4
For example, with a 0.1W, mic gain 15, wsjtx gain -25dB, laptop volume 30%, I get -4.4dBm output with some of this garbage, yet there are zero bars of ALC. (The ~14.1MHz is LO leaking out.)
Back from Frauenberg (DA/BM-186) for #GMA. And also had some nice time up there to work #CQWWWPXSSBContest.
About 45 QSOs with my #KX2.

For a compact, full-featured HF QRO rig is there anything better (or newer) than the #Yaesu FT-891 for field use? I’ve got a #Xiegu G90 and that ATU is nice but it caps out at 20W. I have an #Elecraft #KX2 for QRP so I considered the KXPA100 + KXAT100, but having an all-in-one is more appealing, I think.
