Apple zaprezentowało w ubiegłym tygodniu procesor Apple M5, zbudowany w trzeciej generacji procesu 3 nm.

Choć na razie trafił tylko do 14-calowego MacBooka Pro, pierwsze wyniki testów Geekbench 6 robią ogromne wrażenie.

Podstawowy M5 — z 4 rdzeniami wydajnościowymi i 6 energooszczędnymi — osiąga niemal tę samą moc, co M1 Ultra z 2022 roku, ustępując mu zaledwie o 6% w teście wielordzeniowym. Wynik M5 jest też tylko o 5% niższy od M3 Max.

I’m still mystified by the fact that Apple has not clocked any of its #appleSilicon SoCs higher than 3.2GHz, especially since even the #M1Ultra does not get very hot.

Perhaps the #macPro will change that whenever it’s actually released.

Still the Apple Silicon rollout has not gone entirely to plan, and AMD and Intel have faster desktop chips by many measures.

Also, started down an Ethernet-based migration and then cancelled b/c 14 hour estimates and climbing. Then I couldn’t make it recognize that I wanted to do a TM migration instead b/c it hadn’t fonished the EN migration? So wipe and install which was HILARIOUS. 2h52m to 1h42m a minute later to 3m 15 minutes later to about a minute for 5 minutes. Whoever coded the time estimates didn’t even TRY, lmao. #MacStudio #M1Ultra
