Due to issues with the patched version of #MacOS Sequoia via #Opencore running on the 2015 #iMac5k, I decided to move on to something more stable; something that is not prone to crash...
DEBIAN! "Cause Debian just works."
Here is my attempt to beautify the Gnome desktop
#Fastfetch #Gnome #ghiblifanart
Getting ready to see how far I can push an eight-year old Intel Mac using #OpenCore. If it can deal with #Sequoia, maybe I’ll see how it fares with #Tahoe. Hopes are low. #ShitsAndGiggles
For anyone running Hackintosh on Sonoma / Sequoia / Tahoe with Broadcom FullMAC WiFi:
I wrote a detailed guide to AppleBCMWLANCompanion (BCMC) based on the official docs + InsanelyMac thread + a Tahoe + BCM43602 success report.
It covers supported OS builds, firmware layout, device properties, AppleVTD/VT‑d, limitations (no AWDL/AirDrop) and when BCMC vs OCLP vs new hardware makes sense.

WTF @MattermostFR
This morning @silex community chat warns me that the max number of free users is almost reached. Why the f*** would you charge per user when I host the software myself, why is the number of users considered an Enterprise feature???
I hate open core, and I hate that convenience tricked me, again
Little bonus, on their home page, they proudly advertise features for military use, seriously wtf
Schon die zweite Anfrage bekommen, ob wir auch einen Apple-Computer auf Linux umstellen können. Yes, we can ;-D
#mac #apple #Macbook #opencore #linux #repair #RepairCafes
Just adding https://endof10.org here for convenience.
A real-life anecdote from today on "convincing" people is that some researchers unaware that #Overleaf is on an #OpenCore model were delighted to hear about the #AGPL 'd branch - source [1] - example instance [2]. I did *not* try to convince anyone - I just pointed out the possibility and gave URLs. And a new (non-public) overleaf instance may be the result!

On the article above, you mentioned WordPress plugin. I find it very interesting.
WordPress plugin like Advanced Custom Fields, WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, they are (except Gravity Forms):
1. Releasing their 'open source' products free of charge.
2. Selling their premium 'open source' products for a price (which is a good thing, I am not against money making).
Now, let we see:
1. Do they develop their premium 'open source' products in public repository where people can read the code and contributing?
They don't. This defeat the purpose of open source software development methodology.
2. Do they welcome to the idea that other people can read, study, modify and redistribute their premium 'open source' plugin?
No, they are strongly against this, especially the redistribution.
----------------------
Even thought their plugins are under GPL license and they call themselves as open source developers, but, open core is what they have been practically doing.
This is one of the things which gave me the idea that open core is the open source next direction.

Free software movement focuses on freedom, but not friendly to the commercial world.
Open source movement emerged from free software movement. It replaced freedom with software development methodology. It is absolutely friendly to the commercial world.
Open core is the natural next direction of open source. It is friendly to the commercial world, but it is also friendly to the pocket of the developers.
Next, returning to 100% proprietary software as a way of life.
#FreeSoftware #LibreSoftware #OpenSource #OpenCore
Edit: I am not against proprietary software. I am using Excel daily.
has anyone coined a term for #OpenCore #OSS licenses code, where the fundamental principle is that only UX convenience features are allowed to be proprietary? all data must be accessible through open souce means, nothing related to scaling shall be proprietary and the plugin system must also be documented and open?
if not I shall label it #SovereignOpenCore.
in this model companies would finance themselves through support and plugins that enable more efficient interaction with the data.
