Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ – Mini Games Guide

NOTES:

• MINI GAMES cannot be skipped on your first playthrough.
• How to SKIP the MINI GAMES: You must purchase the “Minigame Skip Ticket” from Ryunosuke’s Shop. This item will only be available after clearing one route.
• The mini-game difficulty level is set to NORMAL by default. You can adjust the difficulty by going to Title Menu → “Treasure Chest” → MINI GAME.

MINI GAME 1: Run and Answer! The Hellish Test

This game requires you to move Chizuru to the paper that corresponds to the correct answer to each question. Use the left joystick or directional buttons to move the heroine. You can also use the touch screen and tap the paper that corresponds the correct answer and Chizuru will move automatically to the paper’s destination.

The tricky part is that some of the test papers can be very close together, so be sure to create enough distance when moving Chizuru from one paper to another to avoid landing on the wrong answer.

💡TIP: Using the touch keys to tap on the answers can cause Chizuru to bump into *incorrect papers* if they’re in the way. Using the joystick is usually easier and more accurate for avoiding obstacles.

• If you land on a paper with an LI, the character will give you a hint.
• Landing on a paper with the “☠️” symbol reduces the timer.
• Landing on a Serizawa paper will mostly deplete all of your remaining time.
• You will need at least 3 correct answers out of the 5 questions to proceed to the cutscene where the LI congratulates you for acing the exams.

MINI GAME 2: Light ’em Up! SSS (Summer Survival Shooting)

This is a pretty straightforward water gun shooting game. The goal is to keep shooting your opponent until their life bar is depleted to 0, or to have more life remaining than them when the timer runs out. You can use either touch controls or button controls for this mini game.

💡TIPS:

• When your water guage is empty you will be unable to fire for a brief moment.
• Be sure to constantly press the X button to charge water power.
• L and R button changes your target aim.

MINI GAME 3: Victory! Welcome to the Maid Cafe!

This mini-game is similar to Diner Dash: you move Chizuru to pick up food/meals and deliver them to customers. Failing this mini-game will prevent you from reaching the date scene with the LI and will not unlock the date scene CG.

💡TIP: Using the touch screen is probably the easiest method compared to the control buttons. Be sure to also use the LI’s ultimate move to help you succeed in this game.

List of Ultimate Moves by LI Partner:

• Hijikata: Chizuru moves faster for 10 seconds.
• Okita: Instantly supplies new meals.
• Saito: Sets all NPC/customers’ wait times to 0.
• Heisuke: A random NPC has their order instantly fulfilled.
• Harada: The limit and wait times progress half as fast for 5 seconds.
• Kazama: An image of Kazama appears on the screen for 5 seconds, slightly lowering customer’s wait times.

MINI GAME 4: Finding Hearthrobs! Holy Night Search!

This mini-game is just like your regular treasure hunt game where you search for the items that are listed on your search list.

Every correct answer extends your time limit, and a wrong answer reduces it. You can ask the LI for help by pressing X, but doing so will prevent you from earning game points. You can use either the touch controls or button controls for this mini-game.

The goal is to find all the items on your search list before the timer runs out.

MINI GAME 5: To My Dearest! A Plan for Valentine’s!

This is perhaps the most egregious of all the mini-games in Hakuoki SSL, as this one is basically a series of randomly selected mini-games featuring all 10 characters. You must complete 5 out of 5 to progress through the story. Failing this mini-game will lead to a Bad End.

NOTE: The character you choose to give chocolates to during Valentines day, will be excluded from the mini game of your current playthrough.

HIJIKATA

Hijikata’s mini-game is one of the easiest. He basically just chases you while you run away. Mash the A button to run fast, and you should be okay.

OKITA

This is a game where Okita tells you to raise or lower one of the sign cards (Hijikata or Serizawa). If Okita gives a command, you must keep the sign cards in that position until he tells you again to change them.

The goal is to follow Okita’s instructions 10 times accurately for the entire duration of the mini-game. Below is a quick video of doing Okita’s mini game in normal mode.

SAITO

To get past this mini-game, you simply need to carefully move across the screen and stop when the “❗” appears above Saito’s head, then resume moving as soon as the “❓” disappears from his head.

HEISUKE

This is a straightforward memory game. Heisuke will flash fruit cards, and you need to remember them in the order he shows them.

💡TIP: Before the game starts, jotting down the order (or at least the first letter of each fruit) helps you keep track of the sequence.

HARADA

To clear Harada’s mini-game, simply press the arrow keys in the order shown on the screen before the timer runs out. Pretty easy, right?

KAZAMA

This mini-game is easy as long as your timing is precise. All you need to do is press the A button the moment the “DODGE” sign appears on the screen. You need to do this three times to clear this mini-game. You can use touch controls for this mini game as well.

💡TIP: Mash the A button the moment you hear the whooshing sound effect for DODGE. 😆

SANNAN

In this mini-game, you must press A when the the moving bar gets to the red highlighted area. You need to do this accurately 10 times before the timer runs out. The key here is to take your time, as the cursor loops, giving you plenty of chances to stop it precisely on the designated area.

NAGAKURA

This mini-game requires careful timing. You must match the numbers on the Hakuo Stakes slip to the one shown above Chizuru’s head.

💡TIP (Using control buttons): As the number rotation gets faster, press the A button just before the number you want lands on the sweepstake slip.

YAMAZAKI

To clear this mini-game, simply rearrange the scrambled syllables to form a word or phrase. The answers are mainly words or phrases related to Hakuoki.

KAORU

In this mini-game, you must avoid all the objects Kaoru throws at you while he chases you. This requires careful timing when to jump, as each object moves at a different speed:

• Eraser: slow speed

Kaoru may sometimes throw two objects at once, so make sure to time your jumps carefully, not too early, and not too late to avoid getting hit by the series of flying objects.
