Now this is what we call a #Moonsie. When we started @KronoMoonPhotos, we expected lots of #portraits that would include one's #self &/or one's #pet with the #Moon in the same frame — what we call a #Moonsie. After boosting and retooting hundreds of #MoonPhotos it's been rare to see an example as bold as this one of a wide-eyed #orange #cat in a #tree (a #treehouse?) illuminated by a bright #fullMoon shining overhead. Let's all share more #Moonsies in 2025!

Here's a thought. Go out tonight and take some pictures! You'll feel much better. Take a few #MoonPhotos and share them with @KronoMoonPhotos! Or take a few #selfies under the #Moon -- we call these #Moonsies. They usually take a few extra attempts to get the #lighting and #focus right, but then that just makes for more #fun. Then, everyone on #Mastodon can enjoy your #photos and they can feel better. It might not make the world a better place down here, but what about up there in #OuterSpace? 🌙
Could we explain a little more about what is going on here?
A #Moonsie is a concept and a made-for-Mastodon #hashtag for a particular kind of #photo. Analogous to a #selfie, a #Moonsie might be a #selfie, but with the #Moon in it! We can also shoot #Moonsies of our #friends, #family, #colleagues, #firstdates, #lastdates, #nextdoorneighbors & #pets -- under the watch of the Goddess of the Night.
We often see #portraits of #people OR #portraits of the #Moon. We'd like to see more of people AND the Moon! Also, #time & #location info can provide interesting #metadata on exact #MoonPhases.
Now please don't be frustrated if you have some trouble shooting one of these because of the extreme distances -- what #photogs call the depth-of-field. It's not easy to get a perfect shot. But that's OK! We will still love you and your #Moonsies, blurs & all! You can also shoot an extra one.
We will try to #boost all #photos with the #hashtag #Moonsie 🌙
