I just had the nicest afternoon. I signed up for a farm tour at Singing Frogs Farm in Sebastopol, CA, where we have a CSA farm box for produce. I knew they did a no till organic production which benefits the earth with keeping minerals and nutrients in the soil and prevents top soil eradication, but to hear the details of the other benefits of this production just made me so happy!
It is one, little positive thing in my corner of the world. The no till method also prevents flooding of the land to a great degree, as well as nitrogen and phosphorus run off. 👨🏼🌾🧺🫛🫑🥕🥔🥒🥬🥦🍅🍆🍠

Pickle season has started! I just took a #soilhealth class at my local library and here are some #interesting things I learned:
- Soil & Water Dep's were started because of the Dust Bowl
- Soil loss is the no.1 polluter in #NC
- 200 farms left in my county and the depr encourages #NoTillFarming and #CoverCrop
- #Soil tests rec every 3 yrs and ID Ph, micro, and macro nutrients
- Our area doesn't test for N as it's usually not a problem in our clay and loamy soil
- Phosphorus is the biggest issue to address here
