Today was windshield replacement day. On the way to pick up the car I hit a pothole and punctured a tire. Changed the tire at the windshield shop and learned the new windshield cracked during installation. Drove to the tire repair shop. New tube and repair set up for Monday. Please, PLEASE stop making software updating processes steal focus. Let me decide what gets focus. It's a pain in the ass to be doing something else, then fuck up or cancel or accidentally say "yes" or "no" to some aspect of the software updates going on in the background when characters from the email I'm typing end up in the software updater dialogue.
I googled this a few weeks ago for an hour or two. I found several other people with the same frustration. I found three responses:
1. There's nothing anybody can do about it, sorry
2. [very complex fucking with system] might work, but don't count on it
3. You shouldn't want to do this. You're bad at being a Linux user.

Night falls on July 4th...
I cried this morning. I was overcome by emotions. I mourn the death of the victims the Nashville shooting. As a father of 2, both close to the ages of the victims, I just can't stop thinking about them, and their families.
The more this happens, the harder it hits. I worry every day that the news will show yet another shooting.
