#Biden promised a #PublicOption for #HealthCare insurance. The basic idea being that the government run a system that you can buy into that doesn't need to make a profit, but does need to cover all of its costs. It wouldn't be subsidized like #medicaid or #medicare. Besides giving people an option that could be cheaper, it should help provide more transparency to the cost of health care.

For all the talk of Biden being more like FDR than recent Dems, his failure to do at least this, sucked.

#Trump will replace #Obamacare with... a concept of a plan. Never mind that Obamacare is literally a plan created by the #heritagefoundation then vilified as #socialism because only 3 republicans would work with him, turning it into the weird Frankenstein that at least ended denial of coverage for #pre-existingconditions but if not for the #filibuster, it would have been a #publicoption that had the power to #negotiate down the #prices because economies of scale make that possible. Instead it was a handout to the #drugcompanies , and the best worst plan we could have. Trump just says its bad and has no plan to replace it with anything other than creating a #medical wild west that will let patients die. Don't believe me? that was standard practice prior to Obamacare.

Even though host Jon Karl's a known Lefty, he's failing to push back on much of Cotton's nonsense:

Eg: Cotton claimed, "Harris wants to abolish private health insurance", to which Karl defended only with, "Harris has not claimed to STILL support #Medicare4All."

But M4A DOESN'T DO THAT. It is merely a #PublicOption, and it should be a joke that #Republicans fear M4A would be SO popular it would "END private insurance."

There is a dichotomy I've never been able to wrap my head around:

👉 How so many RW Americans will get SO upset if you threaten their #Medicare or #Medicaid, but then attack/condemn/scream if you dare suggest making it available to everyone, calling you a #Communist/#Socialist, to the point of threatening violence.

Talk about "Learning the wrong lesson"!

#GOP wants "private corporations to *compete* with the PUBLIC Social Security System".

This sounds an awful lot like the "#PublicOption" for health care (in reverse) that they railed against b/c they believe it would destroy the private health care industry.

SO, WHICH IS IT, GOP? Does competing with the government save consumers money or doesn't it? 🤨 🤦‍♂️

The choices are stark (no pun intended) for the Puritopians:

1. Vote for Trump to spite your alleged progressive values, and show the DNC who’s the boss.

2. Vote for third party and reward Joe Lieberman —the guy who torpedoed the #PublicOption.

3. Don’t vote at all and gamble on your privilege keeping you out of the Trump’s proposed concentration camps.

4. Vote for the Greater Good, and get as many good Democrats into office as you can, and defend democracy from the fascists.

I know I keep harping on this, but if you wonder why everything wasn’t fixed during the #ObamaYears, just look at the timeline. That mythical majority was 59 days, and it took the endless recounts to get Al Franken seated in 2009. They got the ACA passed in that brief time DESPITE Joe “No Labels” Lieberman torpedoing the #PublicOption before losing the House to the GOP in 2010.

You want to vote 3rd Party/No Labels and reward Lieberman who took the Public Option “Off the Table”?

After all that fierce debate over #MedicareForAll versus a #PublicOption, we haven't even closed the #Medicaid coverage gap in the red states, and now Republicans want to gut #Medicaid entirely (and would gut #Medicare and the #ACA too, if they thought they could get away with it).

Yes, I know there is a limited Medicare drug pricing bill that was passed, but it is so little compared to what we hoped for in 2020.
