@RaymondPierreL3 I once read an article that nowadays, for every freshly published real book you can find #ASlop and #AIScam with nearly or the same title on #Amazon, often connected with fake biographies of the real authors. And even big #publishers are losing a lot of money due to more invisibility ... but they don't talk about it. (Can't refind the article).
Slowly, some voices are becoming louder: publishingperspectives.com/202

"We want your offerings. A flower, a candle, a memory. Altar is a space for your mythic and elemental stories. We want poetry that isn’t afraid of the darkness and revels in the light. That understands tension and feels like an ancient whisper from the forest floor. Stories and essays that transport us to other realms. Art that could live in a grimoire. Reviews that introduce us to new perspectives. Recipes and spells that nourish and conjure"

"We often say words have meaning. But they have more than meaning. They’re a kinetic force—able to cut, convince, and comfort. They linger. They travel.
And when you find the right words—or even when you’re still reaching for them—send them out into the universe. Whatever you’re offering, there’s someone out there ready to receive them."

5/ A US federal district judge just dismissed the #antitrust case against six academic #publishers (Jan 30, 2026).

"The four scholars, scientists and professors who filed the lawsuit in 2024 had not shown sufficient evidence of a conspiracy involving publishers Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, Sage Publications, Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis and Wolters Kluwer."

@__hetz @vantablack @fuchsiii do I excuse this "jankyness"?

  • Fuck no!

But I do blame the #developers / #publishers of the #Games and not #SteamOS because unlike the underlying #Linux one cannot really optimize the closed-source binary game or just recompile it with optimized settings for the #SteamDeck...

"This shift is gradual, not binary. #Directvisits still happen. #Search still sends traffic. But the proportion is changing, and as AI intermediaries become more capable and more widely used, that proportion will continue to shift. #Publishers whose revenue depends on attention are feeling this now, and it will become more pronounced over time.
#Theweb will continue to change into the future; this isn’t a single switch being flipped, but a #migration."

"#News #publishers limit #InternetArchive access due to #AI scraping concerns."

PS: I'm one who thinks AI training on copyrighted content is #FairUse and (separate point) even desirable in the case of academic research.
fediscience.org/@petersuber/11

But this kind of training will create huge collateral damage --indirectly through publisher action -- if it diminishes the @internetarchive.
