I've recently finished a task set entrusted to me by a client. The task was executed 100% remotely with server farm(s) thousands of nautical miles away.
Skillset used are
(remote) server VM management (XEN and ProxMox**)
Linux client server experience
VOIP (incl asterisk)
specific migration skills varying from simple looking updates (which can break custom hard coded scripts & programs PHP code, C code, etc) to full server migrations to higher versions often spanning more than two versional steps in between
filesystems in different Open Source OS where redundancy building of data is important
bare metal skills
BSD (limited yet good enough experience)
Bare metal server placement
Energy and heat distribution
logic
patience / patience / patience
KISS
I get computing related tasks from this client for more than 30 years, which means that a solid basis of mutual trust has been build between us
I love having my client feeling extra great again after this task set was completed.

One of my first encounters with the Beautiful BSD Operating Systems was on a machine that Loves Pepper.
It was configured to do one task and do that one task well. The machine was a file server configured to serve diverse clients with speed agility and redundancy. The machine which loved to be called ChiliBox had space for just a couple of hard drives HDDs. That meant that if you want it true redundancy, you had to connect external hard drives
Those enclosures could also be provided by the hardware vendor
The ChiliBox was a fun toy to play with
It served my clients well for a number of years where all that was needed was to swap out hard drives which were worn without losing any data the only patience the client needed to have, is to make the resilvering of the new HDD complete itself.

The addition of more drives definitely has a linear-ish scaling in bandwidth. With three disks, the software RAID of floppy disks is up to a whopping 1.09kBps!
The command I used looks like:
diskutil appleraid create stripe FLOPPYRAID ‘MS-DOS FAT12’ disk8 disk5 disk4

Apple’s graphical Disk Utility app is becoming increasingly useless to me. They are probably isolating the functions to make it easier for the common user to fix issues on their systems without accidentally breaking something.
I figured out the terminal command needed to create a software RAID from two or more floppy disks. The issue I was having was due to the filesystem name. The manpages are somewhat unclear on how to specify it.
