I just discovered Cap, a proof-of-work CAPTCHA you can self-host.

It looks sleek, since it will basically make the bot farm to waste money computing shit until the point it becomes financially unfeasible.

What's great, is that you can adjust the work weight.

No clue what happened to one of my blogs. I just visited it and there's this dodgy looking #recaptcha. I meant to move the #Hugo static files from #Hostinger to #Bunnynet but haven't—doing it now!

Looking for an alternative to reCAPTCHA, which basically sucks when it comes to privacy, data protection, and so on, for obvious reasons.

For years (over a decade), I've been running my preferred web browser in 'native' compatibility mode.

Sadly, due to more and more organisations using #google's #recaptcha , I've had to switch to #Firefox compatibility mode.

This makes me feel.....

So Google somehow broke Recaptcha for a few browsers.

They do have an issue tracker, so I head there to file an issue!

... alas, the issue tracker uses Recaptcha.

(So, for how many other browsers did they break Recaptcha, besides SeaMonkey? Pale Moon?)

#Mozilla talks about respecting our privacy but it is using Google #Recaptcha (amongst other privacy-disrespecting things) 😒

A page on the Mozilla add-on developer hub which informs about add-on distribution agreement et cetera with a Google Captcha.

Has anyone tried creating a Github account recently? I deleted my old one, telling myself smugly that I had no need of it cos I'd moved my stuff to a mix of in-house Forgejo and CodeBerg. Then I wanted to report a problem on a third party Github repo I was using... sigh.

Anyway, there's a recaptcha system that offers a visual puzzle to prove I am human. I have to click on arrows which move a person around a group of seats (like in a theatre). The idea is when they are on the correct seat I hit submit.

Except they never do land on the correct seat. Well, sometimes they do. But I have to go around 15 times (I need to be REALLY human) and sometime in the first 5 times I hit this situation where there's no right answer.

I am, of course, talking with their support, but interested if anyone else has seen this.
