Anyone using #dape with #ruby ? I am currently debugging a quite large and messy codebase, and I had to resort to Jetbrains #rubymine to get a powerful debugger with visual breakpoints (which is much faster than dropping `debugger` statements everywhere). Rubymine is cool, but I'd like to stay in Emacs for that.

Dape just does not work, and the README basically says : "you can use it for ruby". That's it.

But I can't figure out how it works. #emacs #help

Сегодня пытаюсь обойтись в работе без запуска внешних терминалов - только из ide. И сама ide в полноэкранном режиме. Экономлю память и внимание меньше рассеивается, вроде.

I tried installing and running #RubyMine from #FlatPak. This did not go as I would have preferred. FlatPak's confinement is not well suited for something like an IDE.

@here_for_code @evilmartians I like #standardrb because it uses #RuboCop but only implements basic and non-controversial rules that help with linting.

I occasionally use #RubyMine for the (putatively) automated refactorings and to play around with #AI integrations, but I'm a #CLI guy and don't find IDE's very intuitive. I use heavily customized #vim, #ack or #thesilversearcher, and #ctags for day to day stuff. It just seems faster to me, but that could just be muscle memory and habit. 😄

Anyone have strong feelings about #rubymine? Only if it was your primary editor/IDE for a meaningful length of time in the last year. #Ruby

@hschne that's one of the features that JetBrain's #Rubymine solves easily out of the box.
I'm not using it generally but I use it for these kinds of tasks since I don't know any other editor or IDE that does it.

It will rename models, controllers and even I18 keys if you want it to.

I occasionally try #RubyMine for refactoring or #CoPilot integration, and generally regret it. What are some #vim friendly tools for refactoring, #AI integration (esp. for #TDD or #HAML automation), and so forth? ALE by itself doesn't quite do it for me, but that could just be user error or lack of knowledge. 😇

Does anyone know how I can turn off the #intellij annotations that show up above functions in #rubymine #webstorm?

If I could use a different editor than #RubyMine for #Ruby and get an easy-to-set-up debugger, good refactoring, and equally good completion, I would jump to it. As things stand, however, nothing is even close.

Talking to current and future users was fun at . You don't have to wait for the future to value your time now.

Also humbled to hang out with the developers that bring you your favorite tools.

Dear #RubyMine:

I don't mind if the latest version is trying to solve world peace, but can you please not do it in the UI thread?

Many thanks.

I mentioned before I was using vscode to give it a try. It has been a few days, and so far, I do enjoy the experience. It feels very lightweight and manageable (there are still a few things I am not 100% convinced about, but we are getting there). Today I found a little roadblock; I was doing some mayor refactoring, and guess what... yep, I went back to Intellij to do the refactorings before continuing… 🤷🏽‍♂️
