I loaded #Kubuntu on my youngest niece's #Acer #chromebook .*

She had never seen a linux laptop until yesterday @5pm PST.

She's installed #PyCharm and doing school work on it.

That kid is so smart, it's humbling in the best possible way.

*what a chore.

#Jetbrains Updates laufen.

So turns out you can set a property manually to increase file size. It has stopped complaining about file size but now it has pegged the CPU to 25% and is absolutely loosing its sh*t because a log file is open in an IDE! uggghhh! People actually pay for this?

PyCharm consuming 25% of CPU because a large file 30Mb is loaded into it!

That's the kind of loser talk that cost you a professional license purchase This machine has 96GB of memory ffs!

A PyCharm notification saying a 37.98 MB text file is too large and hence it was in Read-only mode.

I wonder if #JetBrains has given any thought into turning their base IDE into a writing centric application.

They already have many of the core idea in place - projects, folders, files, support for multiple different formatting options with live preview, spell check and such - and I suspect I could, right now, start using #PyCharm in this fashion, albeit with a bit of a cludge and varying levels of frustration as I try to bend it to my will.

I am not certain of the level of interest, however.

So I've had huge performance issues with 's debugger for a few weeks now with processes taking at times *several minutes* to boot and yesterday, I stumbled upon this analysis of the problem: gist.github.com/youtux/f21934b. It appears that the provided fix resolved my problem. If anyone else is experiencing, it might help.

@bookmarks It would be nice if #PyCharm had a separate style for variable assignment. I'm trying out the linked Alabaster Dark theme and appreciate that it's toned down but there's value in highlighting where an identifier is declared.

Another year of support from #JetBrains providing a free licence for their IDE suite. They have supported the project for 6 years now.

#phpstorm and #pycharm have changed the way I work and made my life a lot easier.

Thanks again for supporting free software @jetbrains

Odoo does that kind of nasty things too and so does Ansible, IIRC. So dynamic import by tampering `sys.path` seems pretty common. I'm surprised there's no easy way to tell PyCharm "you will find code for this module in this directory, please resolve correctly".

Hey community, I'm struggling with a bit. I'm in a situation of contributing to a project that dynamically detects and adds Python modules from non-standard location (probably by tampering `sys.path`). Namely woob. During development, those packages are located in a directory (not a module, there's no `__init__.py`) named `modules`. But they are imported as `woob_modules` in code.
