PyCharm.

Some things that should be global settings in #pycharm:

- The option to clear the commit message after successfully committing changes. I don't want to set this in every project.
- The AI Prompt for the commit message. Yes, I share the very same across all projects.
- Checks for the commit message.

All this should be possible to set globally and overwrite on a project level. It is no fun at all to change it manually for like 25 projects in your IDE.

Hey #PyConUS we have ice cream at #PyCharm booth - come meet the @jetbrains team and have a chat with us

This it one of the little things that I appreciate in dedicated IDEs like #PyCharm.

Editing Nomad HCL file creates a custom header which provides the clear context of the job > group > task >...

Screenshot of a text editor. A red arrow in the screenshot points to a header block which has just the "job", "group", "task" and "volume_mount" lines visible. The current line being edited and rest of the document is rendered normally.

Hey @jetbrains, when are you gonna fix the #bug in #PyCharm where it randomly forgets #credentials and I can't just add them but have to delete the entire config files...

FIX YOUR STUFF FFS!

Settings panel of PyCharm not displaying the account image.

#Emacs is still hands down the best to organize your thoughts, plan your work and do quick-fixes. Perfect for debugging & maintenance tasks.

I pull out
#PyCharm only when I have a clear idea of what I am working on and I just need that IDE focused programming.

What's going on with recent versions of #PyCharm?

#JetBrains has managed to screw up their requirements.txt implementation quite badly. This is a fundamental feature - how could they ship something so broken????

First, the virtualenv would be built with the latest versions of all the packages and not the specified pinned versions in requirements.txt! An absolutely fundamental feature completely broken.

Second, for #Django development, I use the psycopg binary using the standard “psycopg[binary]==3.2.3” and PyCharm doesn't install the requested binary.

Thirdly, and not so important, but a nice lost feature - PyCharm used to flag out-of-date packages in requirements.txt in a nice, obvious manner. No longer!

As a #programmer but #beginner I already know that documentation is important: that's why I'll make a website to document my adventures and potential progress.
If you have any resources that you think could help me, do not hesitate a second!
If you have any tools to advise, do not hesitate a second!
I'm considering using :fedora: #fedora #Kinoite with #toolbx or something like #RockyLinux (but if you have other distros to advise, tell me) with :kdevelop: #kdevelop #codelite for C++, #spyder or #pycharm for Python 🐍 and #rustrover or #lapce for Rust 🦀 and :kate: #kateeditor for simple file edition.

While I "burned" my quota of my AI Pro subscription for #pycharm within a day, my new shiny AI Ultimate subscription seems to be endless in comparison. 7 days in, and I am still way above 75%.

deleting all the past versions' cnfigurations in $HOME/.config/pycharm-community/ and deleting the github.xml & gitlab.xml fixed it for precisely 1 session.

Then #PyCharm was broken again.

@jetbrains, #plzfix #PyCharmCommunity...

#thx

@mdhughes I think #VScodium as a #FLOSS build works good, but yeah, there's a reason I use #PyCharm right now...
