The thing about the Time Meddler is it’s nearly impossible to see it with the surprise as it would have been on broadcast. Elizabeth Sandifer (Tardis Eruditorum) argues the story should be called The Saxons or at least The Watcher (first episode title).
While it’s a trope now, before this point historicals didn’t have sci-fi elements in them. Finding another time traveller was a true shock!

Just putting this out there. It is increasingly apparent to me that this old Germanic lore — what is commonly called Norse paganism — is centred on a specific people and geographic region.

Camelot.
Well, Cadbury Castle has been associated with Arthurian legend since Tudor times (possibly because of the nearby River Camel).
But it was an iron-age hillfort, refortified at the time of the 6thC - so it's Artherish.

“There had been homes here, huts, before the Normans had come. They had started to build them, those tall men of Saxon blood, but they were gone now. Long ago burned and desecrated by the Norman invaders. Now the only thing left of them were the ghosts, and they didn’t like to talk about it.” #fanfiction #fanfic #fanart #GhostsBBC #Saxons #thehobbit
Well, in this #Election almost 3/4 of all citizens have visited the ballots, and casted their #Vote. But as much as we hoped, almost 1/3 of those people obviously thought that #Buchenwald was a good idea.
The #Nazis won.
What a #Shame …
(Even the #Saxons voted better, and the more #East you go there, the more brown it usually gets…)

Bugger!
So I've found the perfect place to plant this little Oak sapling (Quercus Astlandii)
While digging, I thought I'd hit a brick or maybe some foundations from the old lodge that occupied the land before houses were built here.
It appears to be an old Saxon post reinforcement for an old Saxon washing line. (assuming they had concrete in Saxon times :-)
The Saxon Wars (772-804) were a series of conflicts between the Franks under Charlemagne, who sought to conquer Saxony and convert the populace to Christianity, and the Saxons who resisted. #History #Saxons #SaxonWars #Charlemagne #HistoryFacts https://www.worldhistory.org/Saxon_Wars/
