Seriously, this simple shortcut is a real game changer for productivity! ✨

Januar 2026 in Münster: „Shortcut“-Ausgabe rückt kontrastreiche Jazzkultur in den Fokus
Why oh why is the input field for tags (shortcut: Ctrl-T) so damn tiny??
Makes no sense at all.
Wish I could change that.
Exciting hidden #ShortcutsApp actions are being found* this weekend!
For example, this #shortcut obtains the identifier of an action that you copy to the clipboard, which then can be used to detect if its app is installed in the device:
https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/7562e6c153454c7a8d9e9d9fb72bc4ab
It includes the newly found “Search Shortcuts action for…” action so you can copy and paste it in YOUR #shortcuts 🙂

3) Th is line will appear
; gtk_accel_path "Actions>/DirViewActions/New Empty File" ""
4) You now remove ('uncomment') the leading semicolon of the line and fill the last two empty quotation marks with the desired shortcut, stated in textform, here STRG+ALT+n.
(gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/DirViewActions/New Empty File" "<Primary><Alt>n")
5) Safe and exit

Ever missed in Linux the shortcut to create a new note/txtfile instantly? Howto for LinuxMint, Caja-Flavour (GUI/File-Manager for Linux, named 'Caja)'.
Open your favourite Editor and rewrite a single (ONE!) line in a local file.
1) You'd visit and rewrite 'accells':
./home/<YOUR NAME>/.config/caja /accells
2) open and search in it the words/string:
New Empty File" ""
@cceddie @emarley No, if a #shortcut uses iPhone specific actions #macOS will just show a generic “This action con only run in iOS”. Same with macOS-specific actions in #iOS (like running a shell script).
But that’s all at the action level. The shortcut itself should open in the editor and you’ll see all the other actions (assuming there are others).
P.P.S. The command syntax above is for Windows (that's the reason for the "^" before "(" and ")". Omit them if you want to run it in macOS (or Linux or UNIX)
BTW, #ImageMagick is available in the #ShortcutsApp via @nholzschuch's #aShell mini app
https://apps.apple.com/app/id1543537943
so this can also be done in #iOS and #iPadOS using a #shortcut 🙂
