Digging Away Droughts:

Flattening out the land can increase overland flooding, wash away topsoil, and it gives water no place to sit and absorb into the soil. Without building the underground reservoir, the landscape becomes less drought resistant and more susceptible to wildfires.

The techniques to correct this have many names and methods, but the main goal is to dig something to slow water.

Ein #Swale / #Wasserretentionsgraben »Erntet« das Regenwasser welches sonst über die Fläche hinweg fliessen würde.

Unterhalb dieses Grabens entsteht ein Wasserspeicher der Pflanzen zur Verfügung steht.

Ich dachte meine Wiese nimmt genug Wasser auf und dass ich keinen Wassergraben bräuchte.

Aber man muss bedenken:
Der #Klimawandel tut was er tut.

D.h. es wird öfter zu langen Trockenzeiten kommen.
Die Trokenzeiten sorgen für härtere Böden.
Die härteren Böden können dann das Wasser der ebenfalls öfter vorkommenden Starkregen nicht mehr gut aufnehmen.

Mit einem sogenannten A-Frame kann man mit sehr einfachen Mitteln eine Höhenmeter-Linie/Geländekontur auf dem Grundstück ermitteln.

Der A-Frame ist quasi die Wasserwaage für‘s Gelände.

Dziękuję wszystkim uczestnikom zagadki! 💚 Oto rozwiązanie zagadki 🌱 📣 - wersja długa, z wyjaśnieniem: Zazwyczaj orkę robi się wzdłuż pola - tak jest najłatwiej (bo wykonuje się mniej nawrotów pługiem). Ale gdy występuje duże nachylenie terenu orka wzdłuż pola przyśpiesza spływ wody z pola po deszczu, co nie tylko utrudnia retencję wody (ważną dla zapewnienia zapasu wody na czas suszy), ale też niszczy strukturę gruzełkowatą gleby. W trakcie ulewy woda płynie strumieniami, a po zakończeniu deszczu widać wyraźnie ślady po szybko spływającej wodzie. Aby temu zaradzić można zaorać pole wzdłuż warstwic - innymi słowy prostopadle do spadku terenu - wtedy w przypadku ulewnego deszczu (a na wiosnę również w przypadku spływu wody z topniejącego śniegu) woda o wiele wolniej spływa w dół, a więc nie niszczy powierzchni gleby i na dłużej zostaje w ziemi. Tak właśnie było w przypadku pola uwiecznionego na naszym zdjęciu. Pole zostało zaorane skośnie do granic działki, bo tak akurat przebiega spadek terenu na polu.

Do tego posta dodajemy krótki cytat z podręcznika pt. "Ziemia, która żywi. Kurs rolnictwa ekologicznego" (link do podręcznika: http://ziarno.grzybow.pl/images/publikacje/projektowe/Ziemia_ktora_zywi.pdf), strona 59.

Dla zainteresowanych: rozwinięciem koncepcji uprawy roli wzdłuż warstwic jest popularna w permakulturze koncepcja wałów konturowych (ang. swale). Wał konturowy też tworzony jest wzdłuż warstwic (tj. konturów - tak jak na mapie hipsometrycznej), tyle że robiony jest o wiele bardziej dokładnie i pieczołowicie.
