The Su embroidery technique from China is usually done on translucent silk with thin (very, very thin!) silk threads and truly gorgeous thread paintings are made with this method, but there's also a double-sided variation. Often worked by two people, the needle is passed back and forth between the two with the work sitting upright on a frame between them. The two works that result are entirely different images.

British textile artist Louise Goult's new exhibition "Identity" opens today at BottleWorks. The exhibition includes embroidery on fabric, paper and found items with 3D sculptural textile pieces alongside wall-based 2D work, highlighting the diversity of textile art.

I'm really rather happy with this one 💚 Summer Emeralds in Ruby Wood. I was never good at painting in greens so pleased that stitching works much better!
I'm not totally convinced about the mount colour, but I had this one in and I want to exhibit it next weekend at #DerbyshireOpenArts (might revisit when I have time)
