Republicans in the NH state legislature passed a bill last year to kill NH #motor #vehicle safety/emissions #inspections. Now a Federal court has issued an injunction barring the state from killing the inspection program.
Annual inspection of my car last year revealed worn suspension parts that I didn't know I had (as well as tracing a recurring loose-gas-cap alert that neither I nor my local mechanic could solve, to a cracked fuel filler neck). I'll bet I'm far from alone. Few people have the resources to do more than a walk-around inspection of their car — and honestly, most don't bother to do that. Many car owners just drive it until it breaks down, and MAYBE take it in to the dealer for scheduled service if the dealer nags them about it. I have encountered first-hand people who forged inspection stickers, when I lived in Pennsylvania.
