Headed into the L.A. Basin now on my #XPlane #flightsim mission to fly to every airport I flew my Cherokee 235 to in RL.

Destination today was Whiteman Airport (KWHP) just west of Burbank (KBUR). This is the airport where I picked the 235 up when I bought it, first flight (with CFI on board) was thru L.A. airspace.

Parked in front of the hangar where I picked up the 235.

Next up, KBUR, Fallbrook and two airports in San Diego to finish this up.

Finished up the Central San Joaquin Valley airports I flew into in RL on this latest #XPlane #flightsim mission.

Had to stop at Woodlake Airport (O42) on the eastern edge of the valley. The little building shown was actually a very good diner on the field, and it was a frequent stop for Fresno-area GA pilots for an incredible $100 breakfast.

Catching my breath before heading into the L.A. basin for Burbank and Whiteman, then south to Fallbrook before finishing in San Diego.

Flying in X-Plane is oneway to get to sunshine for us stratus-bound central valley people #XPlane #FlightSim

A X-Plane 12 simulated American Airlines 737-800 flies above the east bay of San Francisco. It’s clear to the left of the plane and socked in with clouds to the right (east). Clear skies above, though!

Still banging away on the #California #airports I flew to in RL, using my #XPlane #flightsim Cessna 172SP (w/G1000).

Flew IFR into Fresno/Yosemite Int'l (KFAT, don't judge), then a 5.5NM scud run to Fresno/Chandler, down to Selma's tiny little airport, and east over to where much of this started, Reedley Municipal Airport (O32).

Flew probably 30% of my flight training out of Reedley. And in those days, there was no such thing as "Pom Wonderful Airstrip" but I bet I can guess what they grow.

Finished my day of #Xplane #flightsim flying at Madera Municipal Airport. This is where I soloed, so it holds a special place in my logbook.

Interesting find on the ramp. You just don't see a Cessna T-41 Mescalero every day.

"The Cessna T-41 Mescalero is a military version of the popular Cessna 172, operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) and Army, as well as the armed forces of various other countries as a pilot-training aircraft."

Still working thru my current #XPlane #flightsim mission to fly to every airport I've been into as a GA plane owner and also student pilot/renter.

Did the Bay area airports down to Monterey and San Luis Obispo. Back to the valley for Stockton, Mariposa and Modesto.

Finished at the old Castle Air Force Base in Merced, a former B-52 field. The runway is 11,802 x 150, so my CFI used to took me there to practice landings.

And yeah, plenty of hangar space for my 172SP.

X-Plane 12.3 and Little NavMap: Using Historical Weather: distortions.net/2025/12/06/xpl

A classic “How-to” on use of X-Plane 12.3’s historical weather with Little NavMap #XPlane #FlightSimulator

2025-12-06

In X-Plane 12, I simulated flying a B737-8 into Chicago O’Hare on November 29 (version 12.3 now has historical weather for the last year). It was a rocky ILS approach, but smoothed out nicely by the last few thousand feet and I got the runway in sight just before minimums. So I disconnected the autopilot and landed in <1/4 mile visibility with heavy snow. That's a relaxing evening. #Aviation #AvGeek #XPlane #FlightSimulator

A view to the outside world within a simulated flight deck of a Boeing 737-800 in X-Plane 12. Snow is flying by at hyper speed, there’s some ice along the edges of the cockpit windows, and the radar is lit up yellow with precipitation. The cockpit is configured for approach and the plane is just below 10,000 feet. Landing lights are on and systems are nominal.

Knocking off some #NorCal airports on my latest #XPlane #flightsim mission to fly to every airport I flew my RL Cherokee 235 to.

Started Cali in Crescent City, hit Redding, Red Bluff and Chico before finishing today in Grass Valley. Pine Mountain Lake, Auburn and Columbia next up. #GoldCountry

Lots of decent hardware parked near me on the KGOO ramp. A Piaggio P.180, three Baron 55s, and a nice King Air C90.

Does anyone I know run X Plane on Linux? Wondering what it would take to get back into flightsims without having to touch msft stuff. Thanks!

Finished the first half of my latest #XPlane #flightsim mission flying my hopped-up #Cessna 172SP to every airport I flew my RL 1963 #Piper #Cherokee 235 into. I've hit all the #airports in Washington and Oregon, and just arrived in Crescent City to start my #California airports.

Tower parked me between another late-model Skyhawk and a Baron. Perfectly CAVOK clear night, unlike my real arrival here years ago when it was cranking with a 30+ knot X-wind.

See, here's the thing about #XPlane #flightsim flying. You can bust the FAA regs anytime you want.

My flight tonight was short, 7.7NM from Aurora (UAO) Airport to Mulino State (4S9). Since I am flying these in real-world WX, Mulino was LIFR, 200' ceiling, and no IFR approach.

So I ran scud 100' AGL all the way there, dodged trees and going under powerlines**.

Landing was sloppy, but I got in under the hard, solid fog deck.

**Don't try this at home.

Working thru the WA and OR airports on my latest #XPlane #flightsim mission in my hopped-up 172SP.

After KBFI in WA, hit Astoria & Newport on the coast, and Hillsboro & Troutdale before flying the RNAV 17 into Aurora.

Parked on the Van's ramp. FBO said they'd send a NICE courtesy car, a BMW SUV. Sweet, but the goober that brought it hit the gas instead of the brake and drove right into my left horizontal stabilizer. Van's crew will have it patched up by morning.

Started a new #XPlane #flightsim mission tonight. I will be flying my G1000 #Cessna #172SP to all of the airports I flew my IRL Cherokee 235 in Washington, Oregon and California. I'll do these flights in real-time WX and time of day. Most arrivals will be RNAV approaches, which this Laminar 172 flies perfectly.

Departed Boeing Field in Seattle metro, landed Astoria Regional (KAST). The U.S. Coast Guard offered to hangar my Skyhawk in their barn for the night.

Well that's a wrap of my latest #XPlane #flightsim mission. I flew to the 32 #backcountry #airports listed on a PDF I found from #Idaho Dept. of Aviation, all in real-time WX which was kinda gnarly at times.

Last one was Murphy Hot Springs (3U0). Misjudged the base to final turn and landed really fast, bouncing down the turf, but did not break anything.

Now I just have to figure out who this dude is flying my airplane. #Poser.
