Centre Scabiosa japonica ssp alpina Ritz Blue- months of happy pollinators- not many left now- but see the itsy funny fly on the Clover/Trifolium repens bottom left. Right Achillea sibirica camtschatica with native Aster seeds.

There’s a lot of memories associated with this little succulent…

When I was very young we would visit my gran. She was very petite, kind and warmhearted. Her passion was alpines and she had the most beautiful alpine garden, set over small terraces with stepping stones that I would hop on to explore all the different levels.

Ajuga Reptans is one if my favourite plants for widespread ground cover, especially the pink leaved varieties.

I love alpines so much; so tiny and so beautiful. This is: Erinus alpinus 'Hareknoll'.

Hepatica 'cobalt blue'

Several colbert blue flowers at different stages of opening, sitting within small stones. The flowers have white stamens that stand out prettily against the blue petals.

Picked up a couple of plants at the Alpine Garden Society flower show in Newport today.

The rockery at Portland Nursery is a raised bedding area supported by rocks and mounding soils and plants on rocks, with quick, sharp drainage, and full sun exposure. The plants range from natives to perennials of all types, but especially succulent and succulent-compatibles, alpines, ground covers, dwarf and miniature conifers, blooming in all colors with varying leaf textures and colors. A visual tapestry.

A couple of Saxifraga fortunei for Mastodon.....According to the search there's never been Saxifraga fortunei on this site before, so I'm claiming that one.

#DailyPerennial - Anemonella thalictroides. A delightfully dainty little flower. Other names include 'Rue Anemone' and 'Mayflower'. It might look rather delicate, but this little plant will survive the hardest of winters. They count as alpines, so instead of growing them in a border, I grow this and other species in pots, which I then move around the garden to show off when they flower. #Alpines #Florespondence #Plants
