@johnnyryan I suggest this area is added to your investigations since it is linked to the system and šŸ™

New research confirms websites are actively using browser fingerprinting to track users across sessions—even after cookies are cleared. FPTrace framework links fingerprints to real-time ad bidding, exposing privacy law gaps.

Your browser fingerprint is more unique than your name.
Canvas, fonts, OS, plugins—all logged.
šŸ›‘ Use anti-fingerprint browsers like Brave or Tor.
šŸ›‘ Disable JavaScript when possible.
šŸ›‘ Spoof your setup with tools like Trace.

So here's a question for anyone familiar with EFF's Cover Your Tracks and browser fingerprints. If your fingerprint matches another 1 in xxxxxxxx fingerprints, can I assume that the smaller xxxxxxxx is, the less unique, i.e. harder to identify?

@leberschnitzel shure. Take your time.

  • Usually the most effective solutions are further away from said webserver.

Espechally since #JavaScript gets universally blocked by users of @torproject / #TorBrowser like myself simply because every single piece of #JS I came across was not "technically necessary" if not outright #malware designed to do #Cryptojacking, #BrowserFingerprinting and/or steal logins.

Another Forum that has implemented good Anti-DDoS seems to be BreachForums

One does have to admit they are able to do #DDoS-#protection w/o value-removing middlemen, #JavaScript and #BrowserFingerprinting…

BBC: Critics say new Google rules put profits over privacy. ā€œPrivacy campaigners have called Google’s new rules on tracking people online ā€˜a blatant disregard for user privacy.’ Changes which come in on Sunday permit so-called ā€œfingerprintingā€, which allows online advertisers to collect more data about users including their IP addresses and information about their devices.ā€

The National (Scotland): ICO criticises Google over ā€˜irresponsible’ advertising tracking change. ā€œFingerprinting involves collecting pieces of information about a device’s software and hardware which can be combined to uniquely identify a device and its user – and the ICO has warned that this technology is harder to wipe than clearing cookies or site data from a web browser, meaning […]

@jbz this is why using @torproject / #TorBrowser is my main recommendation.

So, summarizing my feed the last few weeks: #Chrome is bad, #Firefox is bad. #Brave is evil, #Opera is a disaster, and #Ladybug is misogynistic and transphobic.

Anything I should know about #Vivaldi? They're still good, right?

@oblomov My initial gut reaction was the same. And I still think it may be wise to opt out of this experiment until it is better understood.

But what if this initiative could indeed serve as a privacy-preserving replacement for #tracking? It looks better than all the terrible ideas Google came up with to replace cookies (#FLoC #PrivacySandbox #TopicsAPI) let alone #browserFingerprinting.

Here is my take on Mozilla's #privacyPreservingAttribution aka #privateAttribution: suma-ev.social/@christian/1127

@fen @elilla #Microsoft demanding #TPM only serves them to force #CensorBoot into systems and prevent people from switching to #Linux or setting up #DualBoot systems.

In terms of #BrowserFingerprinting: Use @torproject / #TorBrowser to give #Google the finger!
