Economic #bubbles keep rising one after the other, wiping off people's savings and investments as they pop. Why won't these corporations ever learn? Looks like they do! Guess who pays for their #bailouts? You, of course! They private the gains and socialize the losses. It's all by design!

The only way to rein in this madness is to tell these billionaires that they're on their own, the next time. Move your savings somewhere else, where it can't be just handed over to them.

Tom’s Hardware: IBM CEO warns that ongoing trillion-dollar AI data center buildout is unsustainable — says there is ‘no way’ that infrastructure costs can turn a profit . “IBM CEO Arvind Krishna used an appearance on The Verge’s Decoder podcast to question whether the capital spending now underway in pursuit of AGI can ever pay for itself. Krishna said today’s figures for constructing and […]

" ... historically, the U.S. has been very good at #speculative #bubbles. This is one of our main core competencies here. They tend to be about real estate, or they tend to be about #technology, or they tend to be about loose #credit, and sometimes they even have a #government role with respect to some kind of perverse incentive that was created. This is the first #bubble to have all four. We’ve got a real estate component, we have a loose credit component, we have a technology component, we have a huge government component, because we’re told “we’re in an #existential #crisis with #China, and we must win this at any cost.” So all of those forces together means that you have people looking at it through four different silos and lenses, rather than just saying, like in the global financial crisis, “it’s always about real estate and credit.” Or in telecom, “it’s about technology and loosely some credit.” This is the first one where you end up in the rational bubble theory of all of this, where everyone feels like they’re doing something rational. Yet in aggregate, all of these different people who are looking at the problem through their own lenses are actually profligate contributors to the problem, because it’s the first one that combines all of the forces that historically have made some of the largest bubbles in U.S. history."

NYC done up for the holly-daze! The jewelers would love for you to come buy some shiny baubles. This is diamond alley or the Diamond District, 47th & Ave of Amer.
The line to get in, this time, was really short. People are selling their old gold jewelry!

As voted by my Monthly Supporters, I drew an image of Cleo from H2O: Just Add Water. The theme for this poll was based on different IPs that helped shaped me like The Clone Wars and Madoka Magica and h2O was one of them that made me more recognize mermaids thanks to it's premiere on TeenNick here in the States, with Cleo being the one I related to the most. I wanted to make sure I did the character justice with my art style as I don't often do real life to anime art pieces. The magic was more just something for her to do and the mako mermaids always make me worried I get it right until it's shaded. The real challenge was the background as I wanted to both capture her underwater and the moon pool with the moon creeping over the abandoned volcano. It's probably my favorite part of the piece. So here's to you H20, being one of the IPs to help mold me into what I am today.

Entraining Bubbles

Every time I fill a glass at my refrigerator, I watch how the falling jet creates a cloud of bubbles. The bubbles form when the impacting water jet pulls air in with it, though, as this video shows, the exact origins can vary. Here, researchers take a closer, slowed-down look at the situation; they connect disturbances in the jet and waves at its base to the entrained bubbles that form. (Video and image credit: S. Relph and K. Kiger)

Reminder for anyone making lists of technologies which were deemed "inevitable", and seemed hard to avoid hearing about for a year or two - until they practically disappeared without a trace:

3D TVs

Add that to Macromedia Flash/ActiveX, UML diagrams, the metaverse, blockchain, and NFTs.

TechSpot: Nvidia denies Enron-style accounting accusations amid AI bubble fears. “In a recently uncovered memo to Wall Street investors, Nvidia rejected multiple accusations that it is mismanaging stock, misrepresenting the long-term usefulness of its chips, and cooking its books in a way similar to disgraced energy company Enron. Although Nvidia’s defense appears sound, the allegations […]

Audio-Streaming

Detail of a curved puddle that has suddenly frozen over. Tiny air bubbles try to rise from the bottom of the puddle, but are trapped by the forming ice. They stand frozen and upright like little strings of pearls or jewellery pins. The edges of the puddle are covered with sleet.
