Mit ihrem markanten weißen Brustlatz und dem kastanienbraunen Gefieder fühlt sie sich an klaren, schnell fließenden Bächen und Flüssen richtig wohl. Sie ist der einzige Singvogel, der tauchen und unter Wasser nach Insektenlarven suchen kann – einfach faszinierend!

"Good morning, mister Blackbird. I'm looking for the king and queen of this forest. I trust that the calls of your friends will lead me to them." They did, but the queen was nowhere to be seen – the king was present. After all these years with the goshawks of Helsinki, my heart still skips a beat when I spot one.

I left the forest to see if there was anything else interesting to photograph. The weather was... Well, you see the photos. At least I saw a bit of sunlight for a brief moment. There is little snow left: January was warmer than usual, and February is off to a poor start. But hey, snowberries still look pretty. Speaking of white... While I was walking home, I spotted something moving in the brook next to me: a white-throated dipper at long last.
