I was looking forward to an early finish yesterday until the #Fuckening. The nice two lane A class road I was on turned into a single track, barely above dirt track, road over the moors (yet still somehow rated as an A road, suitable for two way traffic including articulated lorries) and hillsides. A road where even 20mph was dangerously fast.

It cost me over an hour of travel time.

Now that Elswhere Fusk has declared he's going to buy Twitter, I finally started looking around for a new place. #countersocial is ... interesting, and I dig many of the privacy-preserving features, but oh my god, such narrow windows. WTF.

I think a lot of my frustration with some of the “consent based” social networking pushers is the lack of consistency. Those same people don’t want to utilise software that will grant them the experiences they desire, instead they want to argue and fight in an attempt to force others. Why not use #Hubzilla #GoToSocial #CounterSocial and others that have more control? Or join spaces that have allow list federation? #Fedi #Fediverse #Mastodon

Weird - I was trying to send somebody a link to counter.social on Facebook Messenger and it was blocked. Did counter.social get overrun by bad actors or is Zuck just being an asshat? #countersocial

@mastodonmigration I left #Twitter and had the opportunity to join the alternatives #threads, #bluesky, #countersocial , etc. I landed here for a reason and am satisfied. Not interested in hearing from the #zukerberg crowd. I’ll be blocking #threads.

When #CounterSocial was apart of the Fediverse, I signed up as @Darnell@counter.social as I was becoming disillusioned with #Twitter.

I do expect #Threads to have a massive impact outside of News & Sports (#Meta is forgoing chronological searches), a niche #Flipboard can beautifully fill.

1/6 A year ago, a first big wave of migration from #Twitter happened and I found myself trying #Mastodon and #CounterSocial. Mastodon felt better somehow and it's very nice, has great community, you can work up some conversation if you persist and post and leave comments - but that's how ALL #socialmedia works. I've gone back and forth, trying to make one my home but seeing each site's limitations. The only one that has come close to being what I want and need is #Mastodon. I can set it up to see what I want to see, but also explore and discover new things as well.

@pixelfed @Shadowstreik I'd hope we all at least give it all a fair chance - There's little point in federation if we start excluding people based on assumptions (however strong they may be!) - Especially if the ability to harm the network is pretty low.

Otherwise, we turn into the questionable politics of #CounterSocial
