@colinpurrington ok, here you go. mystery #cucurbit challenge. 😂 I might need them to grow a bit more. They’re still pretty young. Editing soon on pc to type alt text.

A small plant sprout. The two starter leaves (cotyledon) are a bit paler than the first, darker green leaf of the sprout. It is very fuzzy all over, on the stems and surface of the leaf. The leaf has pronounced lighter green veins. It is somewhat heart-shaped with some soft points, like it kinda wants to have three lobes.

#Cucamelons aka #MouseMelon aka #Pepquinos are easy to grow & do well in PNW areas. Fruits are size of large grapes & they taste like sour cucumbers. Good for pickling. You can eat them raw, like cucumbers. I like dipping them raw into sea salt with some chopped red chili peppers.

It's native range goes from Mexico to Venezuela. Many people grow it in different areas of the world as a food crop.

So.... I thought squash might fail completely due to the weather this summer. Sheffield, UK, saw the cool and wet b-side to El Nino. But.... I might just have a couple of Turks turban squash to do hygge and that over the winter. #allotment #squash #cucurbit #sheffield
