For a while now I have been testing messaging apps and there are some great apps out there like #jami #deltachat #signal

It is great that we have so many good alternatives to bigtech!

So far I prefer Jami as it is peer to peer, encrypted and needs only a username for registration. It has clients for all mobile and desktop OS. It has chat, groupchat, voice- and videocalls.
I had two one hour long video calls one from ios to android and another from linux to android. The quality was great.

#DeltaChat experimentations and questions

I attempted to install Delta Chat on my Pixel 9 running GrapheneOS and I couldn't get the QR code pairing to work.

So I attempted the "restore from backup" method and it worked seamlessly and instantaneously.

Since Delta Chat doesn't require a phone number or an email address, I wonder what are the best practices to ensure you don't lose access to your account? (In case you lose your main phone)?

I have it set up on my iPhone, on my second phone running GrapheneOS, on two Macs in Paris and now on a MacMini in Italy... so 5 devices in total.

How often do you run backups? Shall I do them every week? Any other advice to share?

Poco se habla, en mi opinión, de la mensajería instantánea a través del correo electrónico con aplicaciones como Delta chat o derivados como Arcanechat.
No solo tenemos un servicio de mensajería descentralizado y encriptado sino que también tenemos una aplicación de correo totalmente funcional y con complementos con el que podemos usar nuestra cuenta de Mastodon, leer RSS y un montón de cosas más.
Y ahora incluso podemos tener varios relaychat simultáneamente para que en el caso de que uno se venga abajo poder seguir funcionando con nuestro servicio de mensajería favorito.

If you take a photo from within the app on #WhatsApp, it will use its own or a Android stock camera. #DeltaChat, on the other hand, takes the camera app that is installed. This is a small but important difference. For me, this one is from #Samsung and fully exploits the functions of the built-in camera.
